Hi all,
I’m 36 weeks today and I have a baby who’s belly is measuring on the 97th percentile and although I had a GTT and have been told I don’t have diabetes -I’m still so paranoid about what I eat! On the other hand -I love sweet stuff and I am finding it so hard and can’t resist sweet treats every so often and then I feel so guilty after. How healthy are the rest of you managing to be?? I just can’t wait to have the baby out and not feel guilty and eat what I like!

I'm only in my second trimester but I eat what I want! Take aways, sweets, biscuits, crisps the lot! Lockdown has ruined my eating habits! 😭
My actual meals however, are quite healthy. Plenty of protein to help baby get strong!
What gets eaten in between is a different matter! 😝😝

Sweetpea1989 · 17/05/2020 19:38

Same as above, healthy meals all home cooked but unhealthy snacks, lots of lockdown baking, cakes, biscuits, ice creams etc, I can’t curb my sweet tooth, making up for my lack of wine!! I’m 36 weeks both me and baby are “average” weight.

Cazzy198 · 17/05/2020 19:55

I'm 39 weeks and ate atrociously in the first trimester. One day I had 2 large portions of chips from the chippy in one sitting as I craved salt so much.

I'm eating better in the third as my appetite has reduced but I eat chocolate or sweet treats every day still.

I try to focus on making sure that my meals are full of veggies, wholegrains and fruit and then eat what I want as snacks. I am addicted to choco pillows as a breakfast and have a super huge bowl each morning that makes hubby laugh at me.

I ate so healthily in the first and second trimesters but between lockdown and feeling sorry for myself that the baby's not out yet I've really let myself slip!
I still try and eat veg with most meals but all day everyday I'm eating a mixture of chocolate and cookies 😳 only a matter of days left for me though hopefully...

MamaGothel · 17/05/2020 20:08

I eat really badly Blush

Mucklowe · 17/05/2020 20:14

I ate appallingly in the first trimester, healthier in the second, and now going into the third, trying to be healthy! Can't resist chocolate though...

AliasGrape · 17/05/2020 20:20

I ate pretty healthily in first trimester - healthier than I normally do as I was really concerned to do everything ‘right’ and I seemed to crave fruit if anything.

Second trimester and now into the third have been terrible for sweet stuff though, I’ve been awful and am now really scared ive done some damage, I’m trying to dial it back a bit but biscuits are all that keeps me going some days!

LH1987 · 17/05/2020 21:01

Im eating loads of sweets and at least 1 takeaway a week. I am making sure I get lots of fruit and veggies in but I don't think it offsets the amount of crap I am eating. Grin

Thanks for your replies everyone -it sounds like a lot of us are tempted by sweet treats! I don’t think I would be so worried if the baby was measuring so big! Like lots of you, I eat lots of veg etc at meals -it’s just the snacks in the evening that get me!! I’m currently planning what choc to pack in hospital bag!!

I'm eating really well. 35 weeks today and haven't put on any weight in 7 weeks despite the bump growing. All I want to eat is salad, fruit and ice lollies.
However...in the first two trimesters I put on two stone and was eating way too much junk so it's a good thing.

Magpiefeather · 17/05/2020 22:13

This whole pregnancy I’ve eaten pretty shockingly. I’m 35 weeks now and have been sick pretty much the whole way through, the only thing that helps me not throw up is regular snacking on carbs or sweet things. I do have healthy home cooked lunches and dinners, healthy porridge breakfast it’s just snacks. I’m probably 55% biscuit right now.

mouse1234567 · 17/05/2020 22:30

@Magpiefeather I feel for you -with sickness you just ha ve to eat what you can stomach. I have been so lucky to not really have sickness the whole way through so don’t have much excuse for the carbs!!

I'm 30 weeks, I've gained 9lbs (but lost 6lbs in first trimester so 3lbs up from starting weight) and think I've done ok with weight gain due to craving mainly all healthy foods since the start.

Haven't wanted anything sweet at all the whole way through. I'm so repulsed by chocolate now that I'm not sure I'll ever eat it again Sad ...How sad is that!

lockdownpregnancy · 18/05/2020 08:27

@LittleBoyJuly2020 I'm so jealous of how little weight you have gained! But clearly you've done exceptionally well with your eating so I applaud you! Me on the other hand....... 🙄
I'm only 21 weeks and I've gained 20lbs! I'd like to point out I can still fit in my size 10 and size 12 maternity jeans, so I think the weight is all baby (at least I hope!).
They say you're supposed to gain 1lb per week and if if I've got 19 weeks left I'm screwed! 😂😂😂

Hannah9176 · 18/05/2020 14:30

I was an absolute pig in my third trimester, all I wanted was chocolate. I ate a multipack of crunchies a day. Bump was measuring waaay off the line at every appointment too but midwife didn't seem concerned. I did manage to stay in size 10/12 maternity clothes comfortably though.

Gained 42lb in total, lost 28lb pretty easily in the first 4 month. Now 9 weeks pregnant and have gained no weight so far.

MrsRose2018 · 18/05/2020 15:06

Yeh.... so yesterday all I ate was 2 muffins and leftover pizza and I have literally just finished a massive bowl of Lucky Charms 🤷‍♀️

My breakfast, lunch and dinner are usually all fresh cooked (90%) I love fruit and veg! It’s all balance mama!

MrsRose2018 · 18/05/2020 15:11

I'll just add, I'm 31 weeks now and I've gained about 4lb but I was a larger lady before I got pregnant (BMI 35 - I'm only like 5ft F all).

RenegadeMrs · 18/05/2020 15:14

Lockdown has killed any self control I had. I've always struggled not to eat when board out my skull.

I eat healthy meals, hardly any takeaways due to lockdown, so I cook everything from scratch but I'm oh so bad on the snacking.

Chocolate now gives me bad heartburn so have moved onto multiple ice lollys / creams and biscuits. Not helped by the fact the only excercise I get is the slow 1km or so walk I drag my toddler on once a day.

I have no idea what I weigh, but have a couple of new strechmarks on my thights, which ususally happens when I put on weight.

Desperate for a g&t too!

HarrietM87 · 18/05/2020 17:57

@LittleBoyJuly2020 I went totally off chocolate in my first pregnancy and my love for it returned shortly after the birth!

I’m only 16 weeks and have really only craved fruit so far, but I still feel like I’ve put on loads. Can’t tell as no scales but feel really fat! I think I’m one of those people who just gains a lot in pregnancy unfortunately.
