Hi everyone!

I’m wondering if I’m going to be this anxious my entire pregnancy? Haha.

Last night on my way out of the apartment complex, a car must have been in park, running, for a good twenty minutes. It smelled horrible. I tried to get out of the area as quickly as possibly, but likely inhaled the thick fumes for at least a minute or two.

Am I being crazy, or is there any possible damage that has been done? Is there any risk here?

Thanks for helping this worried FTM.

Stop being ridiculous, you know there's no risk. Use your brain.

Am I being crazy

Yes, completely Grin, take a deep breath (not of the fumes obviously) or you'll be a complete nervous wreck and won't enjoy any of your pregnancy.

Congratulations.

Marisaraquel · 17/05/2020 17:26

Ha I don’t though? I guess I should have premised this with the fact that I’ve had extreme health anxiety, so being pregnant has made my anxiety worse.
It’s helpful to know that I am being ridiculous, so thank you for that! It’s reassuring.

Have you told your midwife about your health anxiety? If you haven't then you should, they can help you.

Sustained exposure to carbon monoxide could be problematic eg. If you were a smoker or had a faulty boiler at home. A one off or occasional episode will do nothing at all. Often at 5 weeks people are doing much much worse as they ought not know... And yet most babies are born healthy.

FudgeFlies · 17/05/2020 20:37

@MarylandMayhem there’s no need For a reply like that! She’s only anxious about the health of her baby.

SylvanianFrenemies · 17/05/2020 20:42

Yes, you are being crazy. But that's ok! Congratulations.

SylvanianFrenemies · 17/05/2020 20:44

@FudgeFlies, @MarylandMayhem makes a very sensible suggestion. The OP says she's had extreme health anxiety. Why not encourage her to proactively seek support?

SylvanianFrenemies · 17/05/2020 20:45

Or perhaps you were referring to the first message! In which case, agreed.

Marisaraquel · 18/05/2020 01:44

I have mentioned it, but it wasn’t bad like this at the time. For the past several months I’ve kept it in check, but since becoming pregnant it’s been hitting me full force. I’ll definitely be talking with her. Thank you!
