Anyone go into Labour with no warnings? 40+5

Hi Everyone..

Just looking for some encouragement really. Has anyone else gone into labour with not much warning? I'm 40+5 and have had literally no twinges, no aches, basically nothing to say that I am going to go into labour anytime soon!!

I had a sweep on Tuesday and they said my cervix is still up at the side/behind babys head (blast) but is only 1cm (which I believe is a good thing). Im booked for another tomorrow.

Did anyone go into labour at this stage or am i just realistically sitting tight to be induced! x

I did. Woke up in the night needing a poo which I thought was odd, was having full on contractions by 4.30am. Baby born at 7pm. I'd had a growth scan 3 days before and he wasn't even engaged at that point. Had no aches or twinges. I'd actually felt really good the day before! Fingers crossed baby comes soon OP.

Yes me! 40+6 I started getting what I thought was braxton hicks at 3am. Went back to sleep. Woke at 6 thinking I needed the toilet but didn't go so went back to bed. Woke at 6:15 again needing the toilet and realised contractions were starting!

Yes I woke up to my waters gushing in bed in the middle of the night. Everyone told me they’d trickle, it was nothing like the movies, etc so I was a bit shocked to have tons of water gushing out. Tried to stand up and instantly got some intense contractions and was pushing and couldn’t help it. He was born within an hour. I didn’t even have any twinges the day before/ no show/ no braxton hicks. It was all quiet traumatising as it was my first and I had no idea what was going on. Ambulance came out to the house and it all ended fine but I felt so unprepared for that. Was before the due date too x

Yes. Woke up normal time and went for morning wee, looked like my plug had gone but wasn't sure as it was quite bloody, described it to maternity unit who said come in and when they checked I was 3cm - hadn't felt a thing. Felt everything after that though Confused

Haha you remind me of me.. I was so excited when I had time to wash my hair and put some makeup on in early labour 😂

I did with my eldest. I’d been for a stretch and sweep where the MW told me I was 3cms dilated. I didn’t really know what that meant at the time. I had no pain, twinges or cramps though.
I remember I’d just put my step daughter to bed around 8 pm, ran myself a bath and got in. About 10 minutes later I got my first contraction. Within half an hour they were coming thick and fast. We got to the hospital around 9:30pm and they were coming thick and fast. She was born at 1:45am. I was 41+3 by that point. Had an induction with my second (which was a breeze btw)

Yes, I was 39 weeks and I sat up in bed about 4am and my waters broke. I'd been at work all day the day before and had zero indication I was close. In fact I'd been to an appointment a few days earlier where the midwife felt my tummy and said 'this baby isn't going anywhere for a while, you'll definitely go over'!

I went in to labour 11 days overdue. I was having pretty constant BH but had been since 35 weeks so nothing new. Had pretty much given up all hope and was just waiting until induction. I was sitting up at night (couldn't sleep) bored out of my mind and thought I would time my BH just for the hell of it. They were 2 mins apart. Before I knew it I was in pain and waking DP up and DS2 came 4 hours later.
