Morning ladies,
I'm just looking for some advice. Basically I got diagnosed with panic disorder around 2014, I also suffer with anxiety and bouts of depression. I'm currently 4 weeks and 2 days pregnant and at the moment still taking 30mg of citalopram from 40mg with the support of my doctor. I'm starting to feel a little sick now too. Has anyone else got panic disorder and was fine throughout pregnancy? This baby was planned and I did consult the doctor before hand. Im just getting a little uneasy now wondering if being pregnant will make me have more panic attacks ect. Thank you x

Hi OP! Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy! Exciting times ahead that's for sure! 🥰🥰
I suffer with anxiety and small bouts of depression and panic attacks form part of this. I'm not medicated though as I chose to manage this myself.
Pregnancy hormones can be brutal and sometimes not even noticeable, it's very hit and miss and every woman is different.
My own personal experience is I know when my panic attacks are coming and I know how to control them before they get out of control.
However, being pregnant has completely changed that and I've just been hit like a tons of bricks by major panic attacks that I didn't even know were coming. Full on melt downs, crying having full on tantrums and literally screaming at my DH (I never scream I may add!)
I can't speak for you personally but just be prepared for some weird shit to go down! 😂 just be assured that you're normal and most of us have been there!
If it gets horrendously bad then of course speak with your doctor again, but for the most part, I'm afraid it's just part of the wonderful process they call pregnancy!
Try and enjoy every minute.
As I have said on many a post on here try and stay away from Googling everything, as Google is the devil! Use forums like these, or talks with your midwife to put your mind at rest, if you're worried about anything!
🥰🥰🥰

Weirdly, my long-standing anxiety almost totally went away during pregnancy. So you may find that the hormones agree with you like they seemed to for me!

Hey :)

I’ve was diagnosed with anxiety disorder back in 2013, I am no longer on medication for it (used to be but decided to come off it) and my anxiety has definitely got worse being pregnant.

My midwife and GP have been great though and offered me extra support and did discuss going back on medication should I feel like I need to.

Just know if it does go a little haywire that it is totally normal! I always knew I’d be worse pregnant as a lot of my anxiety is health related, but there are so many changes and hormones that even people I know without anxiety have struggled.

Try to take each day as it comes, I found at first I was getting anxiety about my anxiety getting worse and was fixating on it, low and behold I ended up making it worse for myself 😂

If you feel like it is getting worse please do speak to your Midwife’s as in my experience they’ve been great and really happy to help! 💕
