Hi I was just wondering if there are any other ladies out there who are pregnant with epilepsy?

Hi @Bellsx I am currently 27 weeks and have epilepsy, if you want to chat let me know 😊

Hey 😊 I'm 8+4 and categorised as high-risk because I have epilepsy.

My epilepsy is controlled and I have been seizure free for 12+ months. However, the midwife and consultant have explained about the higher risks. I've an appointment at the high risk clinic on 10th June though I'm not really sure what that means or how my care will be different to other people

I am. I'm nearly 9 weeks and have a dd
On a different medication this pregnancy and have had uncontrolled epilepsy for 4 years since I was pregnant with her (epilepsy was controlled before then)

Saying that, I have only had 1 seizure since Feb which is amazing for me so I'm hoping these meds work well and baby is OK..

How are you all keeping? :)

I have had controlled epilepsy for 3 years now and I’m on keppra. @Keepingcomfy from my understanding so far is that I’m under consultant led care 😊 this means I cannot give birth on the midwife led unit and there is certain pain relief that we are unable to have ( i think is pethadine). I have also been told I have to stay over night for observation 😊 they have also told me they have a lower threshold for epidural & c section as I’m not allowed to get to tired during birth & no water birth allowed at my trust 😊

How are you all getting on during your pregnancy so far?

Pygmyseahorse · 12/05/2020 11:59

Hi daisy, I was on keppra with dd and was given the same advice with her and she was born by csection. I luckily didn't experience any seizures around birth or few days after so that's something to be positive about

This time I'm on lamotrogine and taking it maybe every other day due to severe sickness and everytime I take meds it just doesn't stay down so obviously a bit concerned about that.. With dd I didn't have HG until a bit later on than it started this time so managed seizure free until 2nd trimester and then had daily seizures in the 3rd..hopefully it won't get that bad this time!

How far along is everyone?
