Help! I’ve just found out that I could be around 12/13 weeks pregnant! What next?

Last period was 13/2/2020. It sticks in my mind because myself and DH joked about the early valentines ‘gift’ 🙄

That was the first period I’d had in over 4 months. They’ve been very irregular since having my little girl last May so I hadn't thought much of it until I started getting stitch like pains in my lower abdomen when I turned over in bed - the same pains I had only when pregnant with my other children. I took a test on Saturday and it was positive. I’ve been taking prenatal vitamins since then but that’s probably like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted 😬

I’m so scared. What happens now? Will they scan me ASAP to see how far on I am? How are booking appointments happening? Over the phone? Face to face?

Also have a history of loss including a MMC so incredibly worried about that also. My mind is whirring.

Call the EPAU. Explain everything including the pain and they should offer you an apt

@Boomclaps thank you. So would you bypass getting in touch with the MW/GP altogether? I’m not concerned about the pain but I suppose it may fast track me a little bit.

Agree to call the early unit. And congratulations! Please update after a scan!!

I would also contact mw, you want to be on her books and get the paper work needed.

@june2007 this is what I thought also. I’ll update when I’ve had a scan.

At my hospital you can only be referred to EPU by your GP or midwife. I suggest calling your GP as they can refer you for a scan also, as well as advise about referral to the midwife team.

@RunnerGirl123 ah yes. Our EPU is GP referral only. I guess that’s my next port of call. Dreading it!!

I found out I was pregnant at 13 weeks and I called the GP’s the following day who referred me to the midwife. She saw me as a priority a couple of days later and my scan was the following week which actually dated me ahead so I was 15 weeks and 3 days by the time I was scanned.

@Maybelatte hopefully they’ll be able to love as swiftly with me. I think Covid 19 is grinding a lot of services to a halt around here though. I’ve been in touch with my GP who said he’ll refer me to the local MW’s with a cover note to be in touch with me urgently.

Don't panic! 9 weeks ago I was you (I have PCOS, so very irregular periods)
I called my GP the following day who immediately arranged an appointment in the EPU where I was scanned and I was 10 weeks.

I'm now 19 weeks and all is well.

I think not knowing can be a blessing in disguise when you have a rubbish history.

Covid is effecting a few things within the service, my trust isn't allowing partners and a lot is being done over the phone including booking appointments. I had a quick 10 minute appointment for bloods to be taken and that was that.

However scans are being done.
Let us know how you get on Flowers

@mistletoeprickles definitely a blessing. I’ve absolutely tortured myself during the first 12 weeks in my other pregnancies!

I can cope with no partner at scan and booking over the phone! Hopefully they get the ball rolling quickly!

Congratulations. I was exactly the same, I have PCOS. Found out at 13 weeks, randomly thought I’d take a test but had no symptoms!
I’m such an anxious person I was actually glad I missed those first 12 weeks and they managed to get me in really quickly on 14 weeks exactly for the combined test/scan, so hopefully they can do the same for you 😊
