Pregnancy of uncertain visibility

I had an internal scan this morning after I started bleeding Friday morning and some strong cramps.

I had a plum sized clot appear when I had a shower last night and I'm still currently bleeding with occasional cramps.

I believed that I was 6 weeks pregnant but after my scan today the nurse told me I was around 4/5. They also could only see the sac and no heartbeat as of yet so I have to go back in 2 weeks time.

They have given a 50/50 chance of my pregnancy progressing.

No doubt this will be the longest 2 weeks of my life.

Has anyone had the same experience as me? I'd like to know what you went through plus a chat for some comfort Thanks x x

Hi @ammyjanee13, so sorry that you're going through this. It is incredibly difficult. I'm in a similar position. Had a scan at 6 weeks and all they could see were the gestational and yolk sacs. Waited another 2 weeks for another scan where they saw a heartbeat (Thursday just gone)! I'm still not letting myself get too excited as I'm still bleeding (lightly most of the time). Just to add these were abdominal scans as I can't have the internal ones. The two week wait had it's ups and downs and my best advice would be to try and distract yourself as best as you can... try not to google too much as you'll look for all the symptoms! It's so very difficult though. There seems to be a lot of us with bleeding at the moment! Good luck with everything. Here to listen if you need.

@Peanut870 thanks for your message, and I'm glad they found a heartbeat for you! Did they tell you that you might miscarry or just say it's too early to see a heartbeat?
I'm trying not to google anything but also just trying to find a little bit of hope to hold onto for the next 2 weeks while seeing blood every time I go to the toilet 😕 x

@ammyjanee13 They told me that it is a pregnancy of unknown viability and that with the amount of blood (I had bled all over the chair when they attempted an internal!) that it would likely turn into a MC. They did say that it was probably too early to detect a heartbeat at the 6 week scan and that they wanted to see me again after 2 weeks. I read that it is/was a 50/50 chance of going either way.

I completely understand about trying not to google! I did find that everyones stories on here gave me some hope which definitely helped! it is soooooo distressing seeing blood every time you go to the toilet :( is your bleeding heavy?

Hey OP, I'm in a similar position.only thing different is that i thought I was 8 weeks but the doctor thought I'm 6 weeks from the size of the sac. They could see gestational and yolk sacs but no heartbeat on internal scan although it's always been difficult to see anything from my internal scans... They have to prod quite a bit for me and the doctor didn't want to do that. I got told its likely I have my dates wrong and to come back in two weeks (20th May)
I drove my self nuts for 3 days.

Then spoke to my MIL, apparently she bled heavily with clots throughout her first pregnancy ie my DH.

It is 50/50 and I'm sorry you're going through this. It is very hard, but here for you and fingers crossed for us and everyone else in a similar situation.

@Peanut870 it's not really heavy, just heavy enough for my to panic. There is never enough blood to fill my pad completely in a couple of hours but because of gravity, it all just falls out when I go to the toilet and there is the occasional small clot at the bottom or still on my pad. So it's hard to tell if it's a lot or not! (If this makes sense)
The thing I'm struggling with the most is my cramps, I can be sitting there fine and the next I'm pain! X

@Furbsies thank you for your message, I guess it is reassuring for you to hear that someone close to you went through the same thing, and reassuring for me to know that it can be completely fine. My next scan is on the 24th May. I really hope everything goes well for us and everyone too. Especially with things how they are. X
