So I’m 17+4 today and for the past few days I’ve been feeling on and off a strange kind of ripple type feelings every now and again. Not regularly at all but I keep thinking - ‘that’s weird could it be the baby?’ I really don’t have a clue what it’s supposed to feel like and I’m wondering if this might be baby. I have an anterior placenta so I really wasn’t expecting anything until maybe 3 more weeks but I’m wondering if it is possible?

Certainly sounds like movement; it is very gentle at first.. it will be while yet before you get kicked in the ribs... :-) congratulations.

The first movements feel a bit like butterflies. Certainly sounds like that's what you're feeling. It's lovely 💞

My midwife said if you feel movement and think 'is that baby' it probably is Smile (obviously only applies at the gestation you could conceivably feel baby, not at 5 weeks!)

That does sound like early movement Smile

Thank you for replying, it’s kind of a little below my belly button to the right is hat the right type of place to feel it?

It could well be movement....i thought it might just be gas for a while but it got steadily stronger and more frequent so I realised it was definitely baby.

It depends on baby's position as to where you will feel it so no right or wrong. I have a high anterior placenta so only ever feel movement low down, a good few inches below my belly button.

That's where I'm feeling things, 17+2 here. A few people have told me it's definitely movement and last night I got it to happen by lightly tapping my stomach where I felt the bubbling and then waiting to feel it happen a couple of seconds after. If that's the first time you've felt it you'll start noticing it more and more frequently usually at similar times of day.

I have an anterior placenta and started feeling a butterfly type feeling on the bottom left side at 17 weeks, so definitely possible. By 18 weeks it felt like something was tapping me from the inside and noticed actual kicks between 19-20 weeks, when my DH could first feel it too. I expected it much later with an anterior placenta but definitely not always the case.
