Diet and cravings - 6 months pregnant

Hi

I’m finding it really hard to stick to healthy eating recently, for the first 4 months of pregnancy I was very good (lots of veg, home cooked meals and the odd treat). As lockdown has gone on I’m exhausted looking after a toddler and just want takeaway/cake/chips constantly. I am taking Pregnacare and doing my best to resist but then feel so miserable forcing myself to eat things I don’t want...

You can eat what you like, but it's miserable the other side when you look like a whale and have to diet with even more sleep deprivation and two kids - believe me! I'd prefer not to to have gained so much, and I had a relatively good diet the last few months. I did seem to feed my fatigue and lockdown is challenging maybe too many peanuts and one too many chocolate bars at about 6 Months. 🥜----

I would also mention to your midwife as if it's unusual to you to crave sugar, there's a small chance you might have developed gestational diabetes. I had this late, hence the enforced good diet.

@ishouldtryabiteachday Thanks! yes someone else has mentioned this, it’s not sugar as such but carb heavy foods like Chinese/Indian takeaway, pizza etc and I’m hungry all the time. This is my second baby too, and the hunger is just unreal. I just worry about making the baby unwell I was so good last time and usually my lifestyle is very balanced x

Sugar is a carb as is rice, pasta, bread. They always say that babies take what they need, so don't worry. It's hard to judge, but certainly less sitting down on second pregnancy.
