Food poisoning at 8 weeks.. should I worry?

Out of the blue this evening I got severe cramps (like as bad as contractions) and felt sick, had really bad diarrhoea (sorry TMI!!) and was all shaky. Cramping much better after been to the loo, had one more bout of diarrhoea maybe an hour later and feel ok now (although abdomen feels tender).
Wondering if it could have been E. coli as sounds similar when I looked it up online (comes on suddenly, severe cramping, diarrhoea etc).
No idea what could have caused it but I'm just worrying now as I'm only 8 weeks pregnant and I know food poisoning can sometimes cause complications or miscarriage. It might not have definitely been food poisoning but just seemed odd how it happened so suddenly.
Has anyone had anything similar that could put my mind at ease please 😬 I'm such a worrier! 🙈 x

I had food poisoning a little further on than you are. I went to my GP and she took a ruined sample. I was severely dehydrated from vomiting and she stride to get me admitted to a&e for a drip to rehydrate. Triage midwife told me to go home and try to sip water as they didn’t want to bring me into the hospital if it was a sickness bug rather than food poisoning. They advised going in if the situation hadn’t improved in 24 hours. Luckily it did improve and worst that happened is it knocked me about a bit. They told me the biggest risk was to me rather than the baby. I was around 20 weeks at the time so not sure if it made a difference.

I’d call your GP and see what they say just to be on the safe side but I’d try not to worry. I googled when I had it and I thought salmonella, E. coli.... it was likely just a 24 hour thing. I had similar symptoms. Just give someone a call to put your mind at rest.
