Hi all. I am a FTM and due in Sept. I would appreciate if you could share your birth and postnatal experience at RD&E hospital in Exeter? I've just read a post here about what happens after birth and the experiences shared by lots of women from @the country are pretty bad. I'm not putting my hopes high or expect to be pampered but if i know what to expect would make me feel prepared.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Has anyone hired a private room for their postnatal stay? How much did you paid and how did you hired the room? Any advantages or disadvantages?
Thank you all

I’m a FTM so haven’t given birth yet but I have lots of friends who have given birth at Exeter. They have all said the care was amazing so you’ll be in good hands

Thank you @Melbs6.

I spent six days on the postnatal ward and it wasn’t... great. Four women to a room, and four newborns. Four newborns in a room means you basically don’t sleep at all. I found it pretty hard. The staff were lovely though and the care was good. I really wanted to hire a private room but you couldn’t when I was there. I’d have paid basically anything by night three.

Sorry to hear that @Feelinghistoric. Hopefully i will be able to hire a private room. X

I don’t think there are any private rooms, sorry.

Had DS2 there. Was very busy but care was excellent. Have the best perinatal mental health provision in the country.

Btw would have had DS1 there but had him at Taunton accidentally!
