Heavy Bleed and Cramps - Miscarriage?

So firstly, I’m a newbie and previously posted this on someone else’s thread (sorry about that and sorry to anyone reading this twice!)

Okay so, I’ve had some heavy bleeding and just wanted to hear whether anyone else has experienced similar.

My last period was 1 April. I had brown watery bleeding which I assumed was implantation bleeding so I took a test. Which was a faint positive. Took a digital which said pregnant 1-2 weeks. I’ve had twinges and slight cramps through the past 5 weeks which have worsened since Monday. When I wiped on Monday I saw fresh red blood which then developed in to a heavier bleed. It’s now Wednesday and I’m still bleeding, it’s a little lighter but it’s definitely more than just spotting.
On Monday and Tuesday it mainly come out when I went to the toilet and didn’t really come through on a pad. I’ve not noticed any clots but I have had cramps which I’ve eased with a hot water bottle.

What is classed as a heavy enough bleed to cause concern? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I personally think that I have miscarried, mainly because of the cramps. I’ve not taken another pregnancy test because HCG is probably still present so I don’t think it’ll put my mind at ease.

Any comments are welcome. The good, the bad and the ugly!

TIA

OP, firstly I'm sorry you're going through this worry!
How far along are you now? Are you having any clotting?
It's possible that it's a Chorionic hematoma which is a bleed outside of the baby's sack, which is common and most of the time has no harmful effects on the baby.
It could be really bad implantation bleeding. Some women bleed through the majority of there pregnancy.
Worst case scenario it's a miscarriage.
However, I'm no doctor and im just listing a few things ya pregnant ladies may go through in there first trimester that is super scary!
I truly hope it's nothing and baby is fine, but do call NHS 111 and they will most likely ask you to go to hospital for some checks and an early scan.
I'm sure others will pop their comments on here to try and reassure you!
Fingers crossed you and baby are ok 🤞🤞🤞

Hi there,

I'm in a similar situation! Personally I'd call your EPU for advice, I really hope that it's just one of those things, lack of clots I'd say is a good sign. xx

I was told that if I filled a pad per hour I should call immediately. I have to say that if you feel that your heavy bleeding is prolonged or your cramps are you might want to be checked for retained placenta. I had a bit that stuck for 2 days anc I didn't pass it till just before my check. I kept cramping almost just as badly as when I passed the sack and it didn't ease up so that was a clue.

If in doubt, phone and ask what is normal.

Oh I did know that I was having a miscarriage though. It was already dead at the scan before it happened so it wasn't a surprise.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond.
I will have been 5 weeks yesterday.
I’ve not soaked through any pads but as I say, it was mainly coming out on the loo so I’ve no idea really how truly heavy it is.
I’ve decided to call my GP as I am a little worried it’s incomplete so want to make sure it’s all okay before I try again! 🤞🏽
