A bit of a yucky question!

Hi everyone!

I had my little girl 16 days ago 😊 and just starting to feel more like my old self physically, thank goodness.
I had to have stitches in the old nether regions after the birth, mainly due to labial tears. I’ve noticed the stitches are starting to come free/dissolve now and everything’s feeling a lot less painful! But one of the stitches came away early and my midwife advised that it’d need re-stitching when everything’s fully healed.
I’ve just been having a shower twice a day and rinsing the area with warm water and wondered whether it’d be safe now to use actual shower gel? I feel better after a shower but I still don’t actually feel clean!
I’ve been signed off by my midwife and left a message with my question but had no reply as of yet. (I know how busy they are and don’t want to pester)
Any advice appreciated 😊

I have no idea . I was not advised on shower gel with my episiotomy and used it from probably about a week onwards . It never occurred to me not to 😬

I was soooo itchy down there when I wasn’t clean so a good shower definitely helped with that.

My Mum always advised bathing in dettol after giving birth. It helped with the healing process and I advise it for all of my friends. Maybe instead of perfumed shower gels have a bath for a couple of days in dettol?
