8 months pregnant and just lost my job!

I am currently 8 months pregnant. I was still working as it was mostly an office job, full time hours doing 6/7 days a week. My partner works at the same job, doing a few days a week as part time. Now due to unforeseen circumstances, we have both lost our jobs. Our baby is due in a month and we have rent and bills to pay, I don't think Ive ever been more stressed. With the country in the current epidemic there is a huge lack of work that we could both do and neither of us currently even own a mobile phone as we have had bad luck with breakages. What can we do?? I won't even be recieveing maternity pay now and don't really have family that we could turn to to help with the situation. We have just recently placed the deposit on this house too as its bigger than our previous to have an extra bedroom for our baby boy and have spent a lot of money buying everything he will need such as pram, nursery furniture etc, some of which I still have a lot of finance to pay off on too. Any advice would be incredible

How have you both lost your jobs there?

Start by working on which bills you might be able to postpone for example the water company will be able to give you time and you should be allowed at least a month payment holiday on any finance agreements . Then apply for maternity allowance and universal credit and anything else you might be entitled to. Is there any option to ask that they furlough one of you?

Have you been made redundant or been sacked?
I would apply for universal credit straight away and maternity allowance too.
Husband needs to look for jobs - anything for the meantime to tide you over.
Also call all the companies you pay and arrange plans/ lower payments etc.
Due to the current situation most companies are being very understanding.
Try not to get stressed, that's the last thing you need.

If you have only just lost your job you should still be entitled to maternity pay, the qualifying week is around week 25.

Yes as others have said you still qualify for maternity pay - even if the company makes you rendundant. Are you a union member? Ask them for advice
