Had anyone managed to lose weight whilst pregnant?

I've recently found out I'm pregnant with dc3, though it's early days.

I'm 16st so needed to lose a lot of weight anyway, I certainly can't afford to add on a few stone whilst pregnant.

I was already trying to lose weight because of how Covid is affecting those who are obese. I really don't want to be pregnant and this weight or heavier come due date.

Has anyone managed to lose weight whilst pregnant? Portion control is a serious issue with me so I don't know if slimming world will work because of all the free foods you can scoff? At the moment I'm just trying to eat healthier, no snacking, better portion control, fewer carbs but more veg.

Just want to be in control and do something before I have a compete breakdown. Sad

When I had my first baby I was on the lower weight side anyway but very unhealthy eating a lot of sugary food. I then had a scare during the pregnancy and completely changed the way I eat. Not so much portion control but eating healthily, drinking water, no fizzy drinks or sugary drinks, no chocolates and sweets etc. When baby was born I was the healthiest ever. My body didn't feel like it had the unhealthy fat on me.

Now with the third pregnancy I'm on, and this one was a suprise, I am much much more heavier as I did not get a control of my weight. I do feel that if I eat healthily I can shed the fat and turn my body into something stronger. I was eating a lot of biscuits with my tea the past few years! If I cut it out totally in pregnancy and similarly anything else that is unhealthy, then why not?
I wouldn't do slimming world etc. Just be sensible and be healthy with food choices as this will benefit the baby. Don't eat large portions, eat a bit and leave space for breathing and water. If you get hungry again do the same thing.

I am currently pregnant and obese.

I was over 16 stone when i fell pregnant then lost just over a stone. I am now 36 weeks and have only put back on the stone i originally lost.

I would prefer to be lighter but it is what it is, my midwife was really happy in my last check as i was lighter than my booking in.

I lost 2 stone with my first pregnancy and 1 with my second due to sickness - Im not calling it morning sickness because it didn’t miraculously stop at 12 noon! I was around 14 stone so luckily could lose it and both me and the babies were fine
Unfortunately it didn’t take me long to put the weight back on each time.

I list 2 stone in both pg, but through hyperemisis rather than trying. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I was 16.5 stone when found out I was pregnant (I put 3 stone on 18 months when I got sick and was diagnosed with a few things)

I knew I couldnt afford to gain more through pregnancy because my body is already broken and I am high risk through more than just weight.

I've now lost 6lbs in just over a week. I'm a member of a group called teamrh who are brilliant and I've been with before I got sick. It's basically calorie control and being more active.

Lyris · 03/05/2020 09:58

Oh they do account and add extra calories to allow for pregnancy too. I can eat 2600 calories a day and still lose 👍

Thank you all.
I'm determined to lose some, I'm just feeling sick all day at the minute which is making it difficult to get steps done, be active as I just want to spew. I've ordered some anti-sickness bands to see if they help, then I can try to get fitter as well as lose some weight.

Congratulations on your pregnancy :) just wanted to say perhaps it would be a good idea to chat to your GP or midwife? It’s generally not advised to lose weight during pregnancy (and will be very hard to do unless you have bad morning sickness!). Usual recommended weight gain would be about 11-20lb which is all baby, placenta, extra blood volume etc. Being healthy and active is a great plan though. Hope the pregnancy goes well for you!

Just smaller portions and more veg on plate than anything. Iv just had my baby 8days ago was 16stone 3lb at beginning of pregnancy eat healthy enough but just ate til I was satisfied not over full still had my chocolate when I craved it which was a lot but would split it over the day and now 8 days after having him I have a stone and half off from ore pregnancy weight. I gained 7lb altogether in the pregnancy
