Hey all. One of our dear friends is pregnant. Just 12 weeks now so became pregnant pre lockdown etc. As its lockdown I cant go see her and celebrate in person but I would love to send her something special. Any ideas for a special gift idea?. I looked at pamper sets but she has sensitive skin so I wouldn't want to send anything she might not use.

If you can order online or get a few bits from your local grocer perhaps make your own pregnancy 'survival kit'.

What about a nice card and nice bright flowers? I'm not a flowers person generally but I'd rather that than something I wouldn't use. Or, what about writing in a card about a little celebration once lockdown is over so something to look forward to - afternoon tea, dinner at fav restaurant or similar. X

Nice comfy maternity pyjamas Smile

Isn’t this what a baby shower is for? People don’t expect gifts and celebrations for announcing a pregnancy now do they?

  • should have added I say flowers or something you could do together after lockdown because I'm just over 12 weeks too and I think I'd struggle to pamper myself - still feeling rough with sickness and fatigue!

She also won't be expecting anything x

@ChandlerIsTheBestFriend Lots of people in the UK don’t have baby showers. I’m sure the friend isn’t expecting a gift but if one of my close friends sent me a happy pregnancy present I’d be over the moon.

Love the idea of maternity pyjamas - I’m already fantasising over pairs on JJMB website!

@Tmnmpa1 one of my friends sent me a baby vest with “Quaranteenie - baby born in 2020.”
I really love it, it’s very cute x

@ChandlerIsTheBestFriend I’ve had cards and gifts. Both totally unexpected, but lovely during this crappy time.
I’ve also sent lots of gifts and cards.. purely because it is an awful time pregnant or not.

Also baby showers are becoming very popular in the Uk now I myself am having one I know many people that have had them over the last 3 years it's very common now

My work colleagues sent me a mum to be card from funky pigeon yesterday and it was such a lovely surprise. I certainly didn't expect anything but it did really cheer me up.

I think that's a lovely idea she will be thrilled, you're a really thoughtful friend Flowers I've been so lucky had some lovely gifts through the post from friends and family - books are always good, I'd recommend the Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill and my mum also sent me The little book of self-care for new mums which is lovely :) You can get biscuits personalised which are a fun idea! My sis-in-law gave me some lovely tummy butter from Mama Mio. Failing that, cards and flowers never fail to brighten someone's day - she'll love whatever you send, I'm sure
