Anxiety over unborn baby’s health

So I’ve got a really bad fear that there is something wrong with my baby that hasn’t been picked up at my scans.

I know it’s probably irrational and I’ve had no symptoms but I am getting myself so worried that they’ve missed something and that there is something wrong with him that could need monitoring.

I had a private scan at 16 & 17 weeks due to a small bleed and everything seemed good and also my 20 week scan which was fine.

Are things easily missed on scans? It’s my first baby and I’ve wanted this so badly that I think I’m just convinced something is going to go wrong and I’ll lose him. Or he’ll be born and something will be wrong.

I have scared myself by reading about congenital defects or other things caused by a bad diet and lack of vitamins at the start of pregnancy (I had HG up til 20 weeks and my diet was terrible and could rarely keep down my folic acid and vitamin D)

I’m 25 weeks at the moment. Has anyone else felt like this? I feel like I am driving myself a bit insane. I’d just feel so awful if he was born with health problems because of something I could have done better.

We have an amazing NHS and the scans are very thorough. So many things would have been picked up already and worse case they will be dealt with when the baby is born.

Healthcare workers are looking out for you and your baby before and after they are born.

Pregnancy is a worrying time for many due to anxiety and hormones and the current climate is exasperating this.

Try and stay calm and trust that your body combined with the checks at 20 weeks (which are now very detailed) are telling you it's ok.
