What should baby wear to leave hospital today?

It’s cold and pouring with rain out there. What would you dress baby in to leave hospital? I need to get her from the ward into a taxi then driven straight home. I may need to get DH to bring extra clothes as I don’t think what I have will be warm enough. Any advice?

Best, sleep suit, thin hat and mittens and blankets. That way you can add and remove the layers as necessary as she's in the car seat. If you put too many actual clothes on her, they will be harder to take off if the taxi is warm.

Vest, not best.

Bodysuit, sleepsuit, cardigan/lightweight jacket - into car seat - put blanket over the top. Hat put on to take to taxi. Remove hat in taxi.

Congratulations! I'd put on a vest, sleepsuit, jacket, hat and maybe socks over her little feet outside the sleep suit (so they dont fall off as they always fell directly off the feet of my newborns as their skin is so soft) in seat with a couple of knitted blankets. Remove a blanket in the taxi (if it's a 6/8 seater they are often cold)
