Trying to work our how pregnant I am?!

Hi everyone,

So, I had a 4 day period in March (19-22). It was only brown discharge and I barely needed to wear a panty liner as it was only there when I wiped. I did a preg test 4 days later as that period was completely out of the norm for me and it was negative. My periods are normally 7-8 days long and red blood. Did a pregnancy test on 6th April, 10 days before my period was due, and got a faint line. 2 days later on the 8th I got a clear positive.
From what I’ve worked out I’m about 5wks + 5. But someone has told me that I could be a bit further along than I thought due to my last period not being normal.
Do any of you have any experience with this?

Your last 'period' could have been implantation bleeding which doesn't happen to everyone but when it does, it's usually 6-12 days after conception. If this is the case then you would date your pregnancy from the first day of your previous period.

When was your period before the one 19-22 March? What you thought was your period in March could have been implantation bleeding in which case you’d date your pregnancy from the first day of the period before the one you had 19-22 March. It’s going to be impossible to say when to date from until you have a dating scan though.

Hmmm that's a tricky one as it's impossible for any of us to know on here whether the march bleed was a period or implantation bleeding.

My sister had this and it turned out to be implantation bleeding. She told the midwife she was clueless about dates so they sent her for a scan straight away and it turned out she was already 10 weeks.

On the other hand, I had a really weird period the month before I conceived and lots of 'pregnancy symptoms'. I was absolutely convinced i was pregnant (I wasn't).

The only way to find out for sure is a scan.
