Hi all, I am super new to this so please be kind.

I took some pregnancy test yesterday and today, two came back positive and rest is negative 😔 so I am feeling confused as I know it's possible to get a false postive once but not twice plus they were from different boxes! I tried the clear blue and it said negative but I have been having some symptoms feeling sick etc so I would be roughly 2 weeks pregnant if I am... I ain't due until 9th May so it's long wait! And I only took the test because I smelled some candles and it took the breath out of my lungs and I wanted to throw up!

I am also worried about being pregnancy as I am on furlough within my probation period (meant to end August) and worried they will fire me or I won't be entitled to any leave or pay etc.

Any advice would be welcomed! Don't want to waste the doctors incase it's nothing 😒

Hi @Newbie1991 did i read it right that your next period is not due until 9th May? If so, this is way, waaay, too early to test.
Most women ovulate around the middle of their cycle so, based on an average 28 day cycle, you are ovulating right about now. The first 2 weeks of pregnancy are from when the egg is released, before it has been fertilised by the sperm so you are around 2 weeks pregnant when you conceive if that makes sense. To be 2 weeks pregnant means you just got pregnant today.
You are around 4 weeks when you miss a period.
I hope this makes sense, it's hard to explain.

When was the first day of your last period? How long do your cycles tend to be?

The earliest I've heard of someone getting a positive test is about 8 or 9 DPO and even that is super early.

foobio · 26/04/2020 18:54

Are they definitely all pregnancy tests and not ovulation tests?

Could you be pregnant from your last cycle, was your last period normal or could it have been an implantation bleed?

I understand that a false negative is very common (eg if you test too early you could be pregnant but it not sore yet) but a false positive is very unusual as long as you follow the instructions. So I'd guess you are pregnant, but from your previous cycle, not this month.

It might be best to test again a week later. I had a negative test which i took before i was due, (the early test kits do stress the accuracy % is pretty low compared to when you take tests on or after you're due) then my positive test came when i was 5 weeks. (No symptoms just had a feeling, same with when I had my first child I did a digital test which came up 5 weeks).

Yes they are all pregnancy test and my start of my period was roughly around 11th and I finished in four days which I thought I was strange but I can't imagine being pregnant when I was on my period.

If you're pregnant, it would have to be from last month rather than this month. My sister had a 'period' when she was pregnant so was nearly 8 weeks when she did a test. There is something called implantation bleeding which a lot of women get

I'm no medical expert but I would go as far as to say it's actually impossible that it's from this month's cycle. You can't get a positive test the same day you conceive.

beachbreeze · 27/04/2020 19:32

Yes, was your period very light OP? I had a light one on my first pregnancy (and some spotting here and there after in the first trimester

RyanStartedTheFire · 27/04/2020 19:38

If you were pregnant from last month it would show on the Clearblue. What brands did you use for the positives? Were they clearly positive or faint?

stairgates · 28/04/2020 08:33

Alot of tests give off false positives, is it possible you can post pictures of the tests for us :)

Newbie1991 · 28/04/2020 13:55

I think i had three false positive unfortunately 😪😭 I don't know to send a picture on here! But I took a test on Sunday and it was positive and took another one today which is negative so it probably a false positive :( sorry to waste your time!
