Hello.
So I’m 35+1 pregnant. I’m abit worried due to my baby seems to only be in a pattern in the mornings when my partner gets up for work at 5. Other than that he does whatever he likes when he likes. I had a scan yesterday which I was told I had gone from 18cm of fluid around baby to 8cm. No waters have broke and baby hasn’t grown. They have told me any reduced movements at all to call up (even a few kicks less or movements) but I’m so unsure of this as he’s different every day and I have tried the kick count and it’s different every day. what should I do??

If you’re at all concerned just call the triage number. Don’t worry about a pattern or a certain number of kicks, if you feel at all worried they would rather see you than not. Don’t wait, not worth the risk

You could try the usual tricks like drinking a cold drink and lying on your left side, eat something and lie on your left side. Feel about your tummy and sing or talk to see if you get a reaction. If you're not getting a reaction and you've not felt the baby move in a while then phone the hospital.
My baby is always scaring me with very long quiet spells and I go for monitoring regularly, as soon as they put that band round my tummy he starts going wild.

I'm exactly the same had a mad panic this morning as couldn't feel her at all - do you have an anterior placenta? I do and I can sometimes see her moving all around but can't feel a thing! Tried the cold drink, lying on my left side, warm bath this morning - nothing. Then as soon as I ate breakfast and gave my belly a big jiggle she had a good move around - maybe eat something? A lot of people say have a cold fizzy drink or something sugary (which is a no go if we have GD right?!)
Mine has never really had much of a pattern either, except for around 10pm at night she moves a lot. other than that some days lots, some hardly anything at all, some days rolls around, some just little thumps here and there. I've been really relaxed about it so far but I think with due date approaching I've just got really anxious about everything in general! And what with coronavirus I don't want to go to the hospital unless I have to (I do have a growth scan in a week)
Maybe call them just to be sure they'll know what you should do as they'll know your history of the fluid reducing...what did they say about the baby not growing anymore, did they give an indication of what he might weigh now? x

@NicNac100 hi, no I have a normal placenta all as should be. I’ve tried fizzy drinks and cold water laying on you’re left side for an hour. Absolutely nothing happens most of the time! (Today I’ve literally felt him move this morning as normal, then around 3 for 10 minutes and I probably will later on. But I would say that’s normal but I did kick count yesterday on him for a whole day to get some sort of pattern or anything and he was going mad all day. Ending up something like 156 from 6 in the morning until I fell asleep around 11pm. But today there’s only been 53 up until now.... but tomorrrow
Could be something completely different!!!!

@NicNac100 and baby not growing as should be, what happened was he’s scan at 32 weeks showed up being 6lbs. The one from 28 weeks he was only 2.5lbs. And now he’s showing 5.5lbs a few days ago on scan. They’ve told me the 32 weeks scan was probably wrong or something has gone.. they’ve told me to come back at 37 weeks which I’ll get a letter for another scan. If he grows that’s amazing. If not or not enough I’ll be induced!!!

You need to be checked again.

latheritup · 26/04/2020 20:15

Hi OP, you should be tracking periods of movements as opposed to individual movements.

Please see this link. I was induced at 38+5 for reduced movements. Any concerns need to be checked immediately!

My doc just said that if I don't feel him for a while, to eat something sweet (juice, chocolate) and if I still feel nothing after a couple of hours to call him.

Usually don't pay attention during the day as I have an active toddler to keep busy, but I always take time in the evening to check.

They usually say you should feel no less than 10 movements in 2h. When baby is sleeping there won't be much movements but they usually won't sleep longer than 45min.

But if you have any doubt, call them !

2020babym · 26/04/2020 20:27

From what you've said and if this was me I would be calling straight away and be very firm with them that you need to be seen. Like you my baby moves whenever he wants to but generally moves around a lot and I feel him all the time, so I just know that if I didn't feel him for a while I'd need to be checked.

Best of luck.

Please call your local maternity unit and go in for monitoring. My now 3 y/o never had a pattern, and had very reduced movements from 32 weeks. Every time I went in the midwives and consultants were amazing. I was induced at 37 weeks due to it and thankfully he was, and still is, healthy.

Please go and be seen, they will reassure you and take care of you both. They would rather you go in xxx

NicNac100 · 27/04/2020 09:43

@Parks1234 so frustrating isn't it when they don't have a particular pattern! I was pretty relaxed about it for so long though as I'm nearing due date I'm getting more and more anxious about it! Argh that's frustrating 32 week scan was probably wrong! hopefully he'll have had a little growth spurt by your 37th week scan and you can hang on as long as possible :) good luck!

Caspianberg · 27/04/2020 17:32

Same here. Now 39 weeks, have had zero pattern in movements the whole way through. He moves each day, but no pattern.
I am not in Uk though, and they had no idea what I was talking about when I asked it was relevant here at hospital, they were just like 'its a baby, its doesn't follow a schedule in womb, like it won't when born'... so no help
