Anterior Placenta - When did you first feel movement?

I've been told I've got an anterior placenta, I'm going to ask the actual position at my next scan this weekend. I just wondered when you all felt your first movements?

I'm 16 weeks and the last couple of days I've felt a different bubble like feeling just under my belly button and to the sides.

I've got a right wriggler and the baby hasn't stopped moving/jumping around at all three of my scans. Am I imagining movement?

Hi,

I've got a central anterior placenta and I didn't feel movement from mine until I was just over 20 weeks. I'm now 26 and he's non stop 😂

I definitely know of people with anterior placentas that have felt them as early as 16 though! Their placentas have been at the front but to the right or left rather than central so they've been able to feel! Yours might be similar to that 😊

I started feeling movement around 18 weeks, but this is my second pregnancy. I have an anterior placenta this time but found out yesterday at my 20 week scan that it’s high so I guess that’s why I’ve still been feeling movement.

I have a high anterior placenta and first started feeling flutters at 17 weeks. I wasn't sure if it was the baby but about 2 weeks later it turned into clear kicks.

Missdrifter · 22/04/2020 18:11

Hi @ChickenDipper28 I too have an anterior placenta. I first felt movements around 21/22 weeks but it wasn’t until around 24/25 weeks that I’d feel movement every day. I am now 27 weeks and I feel movement throughout the day but mainly in the evening when I sit down . A lot of my movement still feels muffled with the odd big kick throughout the day. Everyone is different though, my one friend hardly ever felt her baby and had to keep going in for monitoring but I have others who have said that their babies have kicked non stop.
At my 25 week midwife appointment the midwife could hear baby moving lots but I only felt one of the movements 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hello @Byets

Thank you for your message :)
20 weeks is still quite early for a central anterior placenta isn’t it? Awww bless him 😍 I bet it’s so lovely feeling their little dances and kicks!

Fingers crossed mine is similar! So excited to feel tiny dancer’s first kicks 🤭

Hi @2020Aug 😬

I’m glad someone has experienced the same! I thought I was going crazy and imagining things 🤣

Anterior placenta directly central, didn’t feel anything until 25 weeks, then it was like I was being used as a bouncy castle from 26 weeks. 97th centile long limbed baby noted at 12 week and 20 week scans, and now have a very tall toddler!

Delbelleber · 22/04/2020 18:38

I was in the 22nd week when I felt this baby moving.

fool11 · 22/04/2020 18:52

High anterior placenta here, felt first movements , bubbles at 15w..with my first, normal position placenta and didn’t feel anything till about 22-23w..

Birdy1991 · 22/04/2020 19:04

I had a bit of a nightmare with mine (Low anterior placenta)... didn’t feel anything at all until 24+2 which did stress me out but now I feel something everyday (25+6). I think I took longer to feel movements than most! It’s lovely when it does happen Smile

ScissorsBike · 22/04/2020 19:11

14 weeks with posterior placenta, 17 weeks with anterior for me

mrs87 · 22/04/2020 21:31

High anterior placenta here, I'm 20 + 4 and have only started to feel something the last few days! At least I think I am. Its very gentle/muffled twitch/prods, generally in the same place on one side or occasionally lower down and central. Relieved to be feeling at least something although half the time I think I'm going mad and it's not actually movement I'm feeling!

mrs87 · 22/04/2020 21:32

Also should point out that I never felt any flutters or bubbles first! Straight to the gentle "prodding" I'm feeling now.

museumum · 22/04/2020 21:39

About 24 weeks for me.

Crabbo · 22/04/2020 21:40

I was 21 weeks when I had anterior placenta with my first, but that was when I knew for sure it was movements - the bubbles feeling you describe is exactly what happened first which must have been a week or so before that (I wrote it off as gas at the time!)

sel2223 · 22/04/2020 23:33

FTM with high anterior placenta here so nothing to compare it to.
I didn't feel anything at all till over 22 weeks and even then it was just a strange fluttery sensation in my lower abdomen so took me a while to believe it was definitely the baby.
It was strange as I had scans at 14, 17, 20 and 23 weeks where baby was moving around and kicking like crazy but I couldn't feel a thing!
I'm 24 weeks now and it's the same fluttery feeling rather than actual kicks yet but it's getting more regular now.

NicNac100 · 23/04/2020 08:09

Hi - I didn't feel anything until about 23 weeks! No gentle poppings or fizzings or flutters - just at 23 weeks little thud, thuds low down on my bladder - was hard as everyone constantly asking can you feel anything yet, gets you a bit paranoid but perfectly normal for high anterior :) I then got some hard kicks start at 27 weeks when I was having a pregnancy massage and much more movement since then. But on the whole not a super active baby I don't think, or she's just been so cushioned by the placenta - and doesn't really have a regular 'pattern' as such so worry a bit - some days she moves loads, others not so much

Babyshine2020 · 23/04/2020 09:15

I have a load anterior placenta (placenta previa so pretty low!) and I started feeling baby about 22 weeks, for the first few days I thought it was just my stomach but it got stronger over a few days and I always felt it at the same time.

I'm now 25 weeks and baby likes to move at around 8/9am, 1/2pm and 8/10pm .. little routine but it's still early days and I know this can change.

RenegadeMrs · 23/04/2020 09:30

Anterior with both pregnancies (placenta previa as well with number 1 @Babyshine2020 - good luck with yours!) and felt movement start around week 20-21 with both. Now at 30 weeks with number 2 and can see my whole belly move when they kick, but sometimes movement still feels more like a pressure change than a distinct kick. It depends on the movement for me.

Babyshine2020 · 23/04/2020 14:11

@RenegadeMrs thanks! Did yours move enough for a vaginal delivery? I'm hoping to god mine does, the whole idea of a section scares me, especially the healing after. I feel sorry for my self when I've pulled a few stomach muscles with a cough never mind being opened up!
