15 weeks and not put on any weight?

I’m 15 weeks today and I’ve put on less than 1kg since the start of my pregnancy. I do have a developing bump but I’m wondering what normal weight gain at this stage is? I’m a FTM.

I was like that but after that point put weight on as usual.
Think I put on 20lbs on in total.

I asked my midwife about this, because i’m 18 weeks and am still hoovering around my pre-pregnancy weight (despite now having a small but noticeable bump). I am within normal BMI range and I was worried with the lack of gain, but she said not to worry, we only want to gain a ‘healthy’ amount of weight throughout, and that it will come, and hopefully be largely baby!!

I actually lost weight in my first trimester. In total I gained about 20lbs and ds was 8lbs 10oz of that! However the other 12lb seems to have stuck 2 years on

BillieEilish · 22/04/2020 09:16

I lost weight at that stage due to no booze and very healthy eating!

I gained at the end when the baby grows and is not just forming.

Weight of the baby, placenta and extra water and blood. That was it. Also about 20 pounds or less.

Lucky you OP!
I'm 17 weeks and gained 13lb so far! 😫
I agree with the other ladies who have posted.
Your weight gain will start now you're in your second trimester.
If you have been sick a lot, that will contribute to the lack of weight gain.
As long as you and baby are healthy, I wouldn't be too concerned! ❤️

I’m 35 weeks and have only gained 3lbs, Midwife’s not worried (although she’s not the best). But sometimes in pregnancy you just don’t gain weight! With my first I gained 35lbs (although with her I started underweight), this time I don’t think I’ll gain any more (or maybe 1lb) before I give birth 🤷🏻‍♀️

Baby seems fine, slightly small but my daughter was also petite so it’s not surprising to me! As long as you’re trying to be healthy I’d say it doesn’t matter how much you put on!

Prettylittlelady · 22/04/2020 10:13

Thanks for all of your responses, I’m a real worrier and just want the baby to be ok, I was drinking (fairly regularly) before pregnancy so that could have made a difference and I’m really trying to eat healthily I just would have assumed I would have put some weight in by this stage!

I didn't put in any until later, put in 10kg throughout my whole pregnancy

JungleGiraffe · 22/04/2020 10:24

I lost weight at that stage due to no booze

Snap!

I'd say it's fairly normal especially for first pregnancies. I didn't gain any weight till I was about 20 weeks this time round but then it piled on I'm 33 weeks now and I've gained nearly 3 stone ConfusedBlush. In my first pregnancy I hardly gained anything at all really till I was nearly 28 weeks gone.

GaaaaarlicBread · 22/04/2020 10:38

I’m almost 22 weeks and I have lost 7lbs !! So I was wondering the same but my midwife says as long as you’re eating it is fine x

GlamGiraffe · 22/04/2020 10:46

At 14 weeks I was still competitively dancing in costumes not that much bigger than a bikini..no one had the slightest idea I was pregnant although any wroght I put on was only on my ridiculous boobs.
My sister whi is really tiny and a muscle machine anyway put on less than a stone by the end and had an 8.5lb baby. Dhe was repeatedly sent to the vondiltabt who said she was fine. A friend of mine who is a senior observer consultant examined her and said she was the smallest pregnant woman shed seen in career but had a large baby with almost no fluid. She was right. If you're eating it just means your baby is taking the good. A early term baby weighs very little in its own right do realistically you dont need to put on loads of weight. Eating for two is as we know a fallacy these days. Eat if you're hungry and font if you're not. Dont restrict important protein and some fats and vitamins and you're fine

WhatWouldPennyDo · 22/04/2020 11:24

FTM here, also at 14 weeks. I’m half a stone lighter now than before I got pregnant. I’m putting that down to no booze and having developed a slightly faddy approach to food. I’m eating a lot more veg and fruit, but less crap. Have lost my ‘wine tyre’ but boobs have grown and starting to get a little bump.

Expecting my weight to rise over the coming weeks.

Nfblues · 22/04/2020 11:28

I didn’t put on any weight until 21 weeks, I’m now 24 weeks and have put on 6.5kgs in total. Seems to have appeared quite suddenly and it’s noticeable as my belly is now hanging out of most of my PJ T-shirt’s Grin

amysara24 · 22/04/2020 11:55

Try not to worry, everyone is different! I’m 27 weeks and still DOWN 3kg from when I tested positive, and I wasn’t struck by severe morning sickness. I worried a bit as apparently I should be up by about 7/8kg by now but the midwife said everything looks as it should.
All my scans have been fine, and baby is measuring bang on 😊 I guess we’re all just different!

2020Aug · 22/04/2020 12:02

I didn't put on weight until 21 weeks and only have put on 2kgs at 24 weeks. I am very slim (size 6-8) so was getting worried, but my midwife has said providing I'm eating well and I'm still feeling kicks, not to worry. However they will start measuring me at 28 weeks and if they are worried about my lack of weight gain, send me for a growth scan.
