Fundal height was small now measuring big

Hi all,

At my 28 week appointment I was measuring small so went for a growth scan. Baby measured fine - between 50-97th centile for everything. Today at my 31 week midwife appointment I measured bang on 31 cm but compared to my growth scan results this plots me as above the curve and therefore above 97th centile. I’ve been told no growth scan today, they will see what I’m measuring in 3 weeks but I’m a bit concerned about this sudden jump. Anyone got similar experience?

Don't be concerned. The whole bump measuring is very unreliable. The baby just needs to move or stick a limb out and the whole measurement is off. Plus, you can have two ultrasound measure the same scan and they'll get different results, same with midwives measuring your belly.

Thanks for the reassurance @NoCallerID! It’s so stressful to be told at every appointment I’m measuring wrong. They said no growth scan this time and will see where I plot in 3 weeks. Hard not to worry!

Scans are much more accurate than the midwife measuring. They need at least 2 measurements that show big or small to refer for a scan. Sounds like your midwife isn’t worried, so you shouldn’t be either. Just keep an eye on movements, as long as their isn’t a change in frequency then you should try not to worry. (Easier said than done though sometimes. Sending you love x
