Cord around the baby's neck

This is the latest thing I've got myself into a stress about. If the baby did have the cord wrapped around its neck, would they have been able to pick this up at my recent 36 week scan? Or is it not possible to tell from an ultrasound? If so, how do you know whether the baby is in danger of strangulation while still in the womb?

I'm an anxious person at the best of times and am really hating these last few weeks of pregnancy - it's all so nerve-wracking Sad

If it’s making you anxious it’s worth speaking to your midwife about.
My son was born with the cord around his neck and it wasn’t a problem xx

All 3 of mine were born with the cord around their necks so I'm guessing it's pretty common. All fine.

I actually had a chat with mw today about this (a short chat) as I had my 20 week scan. I was worried that my yoga might have been a bit too strenuous and jostled the baby too much - she laughed! But she was able to see that the cord was not wrapped around the baby in anyway, and she said when it does happen it's common and not usually a problem as the baby can't 'choke'. Obv I'm a total newbie and not an expert but as a first time mum I was reassured x

I was born with my cord round my neck, I turned out alright (many may disagree 🤪)

I would say try not to stress about things you can’t controlSmile lots of babies are born with the cords round their necks, enjoy the last few weeks of your pregnancy, I know it sounds cliche but you’ll never get this time back, don’t spend it worryingSmile
