How is everyone keeping sane between the 12 and 20 week scan?

Current situation: cant feel any movements, no bump, hugely reduced symptoms and increased energy.... Massive anxiety!!

Currently 2 weeks away from my 20 week scan!

I started getting energy back and losing symptoms as my 20 week scan got closer. All fine, it's just that most women are lucky enough to feel better and have more energy in their second trimester. And with my first pregnancy, I didn't look pregnant until my third trimester.

Hi OP. I didnt want to read and run. It is a strange time until you start to feel movements. A loss of symptoms in 2nd trimester is normal. Nothing has happened to suggest anything is wrong. Try and enjoy that and eat as well as you can. I am sure you will see your healthy baby in 2 weeks time. Theres also loads of online support cropping up for pregnant women at this time which you might find useful.

I'm 15+5 and weirdly I'm more anxious now than I was in my first trimester. I think it's because I had accepted in the first 12 weeks that a miscarriage could happen and the baby didn't feel that permanent, whereas now it feels like if I lost the baby it would be an absolute tragedy. The chance to hear the heartbeat with a doppler at the 16 week check being taken away because of covid hasn't helped! I have no advice, but stay strong 💪🏻 I assume this must be a nervewracking part of pregnancy for everyone!

Chanel05 · 16/04/2020 09:38

I know exactly how you are feeling! My scan is in 13 days, symptoms gone now, tiny bump so I also have that anxiety! I think the covid situation heightens it when you have a lot more time on your hands to think. What day is your scan?

Mum2Bump · 16/04/2020 09:47

I share the pain... 14+4, never really had any symptoms apart from feeling exhausted and extremely moody (emotional, angry, sad...you name it ). Mini baby bump can be seen, but no movements and no symptoms are just hard to take. Especially at this time when we all have way too much time on our hands...

otterbaby · 16/04/2020 09:56

Not keeping sane especially as my 16 week appt has been changed to phone only! I'm also at the gestation where I lost my last baby - so I've booked a private scan Confused

FlapJackered · 16/04/2020 10:20

I am with you! 15 weeks and the wait is killing me.
Although I am still having symptoms which I have been wishing away but I am sure I would worry if they weren't there!

Nelbert19 · 16/04/2020 10:41

I had hyperemesis in my first trimester so was so relieved for it to be over at 16 weeks I didn’t feel too anxious! Started feeling flutters at 18 weeks and had a noticeable bump early, so that helped too.

I’m now 25 weeks, feel like I’m expanding by the day and am getting booted like clockwork every 3 hours and if I eat anything so I’m in that lovely stage now

lumpydaisy · 16/04/2020 12:05

17+6 here, dating scan was just before lockdown and that's the last time I had any face to face medical interaction. Few days ago I thought I felt flutters, but nothing since, and apart from round ligament pain/lower back pain I basically don't feel pregnant anymore, so it's definitely a weird and unsettling time...

Chanel05 · 16/04/2020 12:06

@FlapJackered my sickness was horrific in week 15, such a struggle, the worst I'd had, then at 16 weeks all symptoms disappeared cue me having a mild panic and thinking, "I wouldn't mind a bit of nausea"!

mrs87 · 16/04/2020 12:19

19+4 and counting the days until my 20 week scan on Monday even though I'm dreading it and looking forward to it in equal measure. No movements felt yet, I have a bump and getting hip pain and round ligament pain but would love a flutter or something! Terrified about the scan especially now my husband can't come. It's such a weird time before you feel any movement! I'm sure all is well with everyone Smile

BlueBlazerBlack · 16/04/2020 13:33

My 20 week scan isn't booked until I will be 22 weeks, so still another 3 weeks to go for me Sad. My 16-week appointment was cancelled so I haven't seen anyone since the 12 week scan. I am worried about the absence of care but not much I can do...

sel2223 · 16/04/2020 13:52

I didn't really keep sane to be honest! My dating scan was at 13+6 then anomaly scan bang on 20 weeks so I only actually had 6 weeks to wait and I still caved in and went for a private scan at 17 weeks!

I had no movements and my symptoms started to disappear and I was convincing myself something was wrong.....nothing was wrong. I have a high anterior placenta which explains the lack of movements and baby was absolutely fine.
Pregnancy anxiety is awful anyway without this pandemic on top.

ScatterBrain912 · 16/04/2020 19:19

Urgh.. I'm in the same situation! I've got 3 weeks to wait until my 20 week scan. My symptoms have subsided and my belly doesn't seem any bigger than it was 4/5 weeks ago! I looked at booking a private scan but the next availability they have is the day before my 20 wk scan, what's the point?! I was meant to have a 16 week scan privately to see the sex but they cancelled that what with everything at the moment.

I just can't wait for the next 3 weeks to pass so I can see my baby again.

Sulkypatsy · 16/04/2020 19:53

My 20 weeks scan isn't until May 5th! I'll be 21 weeks then, it's dragging, I'm not keeping especially sane, constant worry about every little thing I feel/don't feel etc. Wishing the time away until I can see my baby boy again. Haven't had any medical checks since 12 weeks

Maggie272 · 16/04/2020 20:02

I just had my 20 week scan today and it was great...we're having a boy Grin
I have been scanned regularly so I wasn't too anxious, but this is a more detailed scan. Thankfully everything looked great and I feel I can start buying a few things Smile
When anxiety hits exercise is the best thing for it - yoga, running, walking fast. I promise it will help!

17+4 today and we booked a private scan at 16 weeks just to keep myself sane and to keep any anxious thoughts at bay! Would really recommend doing this to anyone who is feeling uncertain!
