Antibiotics in first trimester

Hi guys looking for any advice
I have been prescribed nitrofurantoin for a UTI at 8 weeks pregnant. I have read some slightly worrying things about it online (stupid to google I know) but I’ve had cramping ever since I started taking it... I’m not sure what to do or if it’s even related pain wise. Any one been prescribed the same antibiotic?

Watching as have same concerns

Hi
I took this in my first trimester and it is fine.
Only disconcerting but was that it turned my pee bright yellow
My doctor said it was fine to be taken in first two trimesters but not later on

I'm now 26w pregnant.

I was on 4 lots of different antibiotics in the first trimester , all in a very short space of time due to different infections . I’m now 20 weeks and everything is perfect x

You have to remind yourself the dr wouldn’t prescribe you something unnecessarily that could danger you or your baby, they’re very safe xx

Nitro is safe in pregnancy. It’s trimethoprim that is a problem (folate antagonist). The cramping is probably from the UTI or just normal pregnancy cramps

The trimethoprim I think is only
Ok after 12 weeks from what the consultant told
Me
I think it's right to remember that they wouldn't prescribe it if it wasn't ok

I was prescribed Nitro in first trimester too, my doc said it is very safe in pregnancy.
It also turned my pee fluorescent yellow!

Thank you so much everyone, I feel so much better about taking it.
