Light bleeding for 3 days - 11 weeks pregnant

Hi all, so, I'm 11+1. Today Is Friday and on Wednesday morning I woke up and when I wiped I noticed some light pink mixed in with CM. Over the last 3 days it's gone from pink to brown to reddish. It's only really when I wipe and hardly anything on the pad. No pain at all. Had a scan at 8+1 and all was fine. Rang EPU yesterday and she just said it's common and to ring back if I was in pain or if bleeding through a pad an hour which it's neither. Worried sick 😢

Hi there, I always try and reply to bleeding posts because I was so anxious in both my pregnancies owing to bleeding.

I've had the bleeding you mention in the first 12 weeks in both my pregnancies. On occasions much heavier than you describe, and I was certain I'd miscarried. So, just want to say bleeding doesn't always mean the end, and the EPU nurses know what they are talking about.

Littlebb2020 · 10/04/2020 20:40

I second the top poster I’ve also had bleeding throughout and I’m nearly 12 weeks now I’ve had about 8 scans because I was terrified.
I’ve had pink brown and red bleeding the red terrified me the most. Book a private scan if you can and then you’ll know and it can reassure you. Odviously bleeding can go either way, but it seems to be very common in normal healthy pregnancies too x

MrsTtobe · 10/04/2020 20:41

Bless you thanks for your quick reply. I honestly can't think straight and with the added anxiety of this covid 19 everywhere it's just been a horrible few days. 😢
This is my third baby and my other 2 were so straightforward, no bleeding whatsoever. I feel sick every time I go to the loo.
If you dont mind me asking what was your experience? How long/ how much etc?
Mine has been like last day of a period all day.
Im praying all is ok. X

I had bleeding this pregnancy at 10 weeks and it was terrifying - bleeding in pregnancy had only ever been a bad sign for me so was convinced I was losing the baby. Scan showed baby was ok. A few days later the bleeding worsened so they checked me out again and I had cervical ectropian. Anything you read online suggests cervical ectropian causes spotting after sex but in my case it was spontaneous and a fairly significant amount of blood over about a week. Thinking of you.

MrsTtobe · 10/04/2020 20:51

Thank you. That's the thing that's worrying me. Ive read a lot on here about big sudden bleeds and all being ok but mine is just very period like. Just when I wipe and it kind of varies throughout the day from pink to red to brown. Watery to stringy. Im just a worrying mess but clinging on to no pain. Just taking it day by day. Your words of support mean a lot so thank you again.

No-one can tell you if things will turn out ok for you, and that's what's so difficult. But in my case it was quite period-like. Started off brown blood, then became bright red and definitely needed a pad. Even brief twinges of mild period pain at times that I might not have worried about otherwise, but I was so hyper-alert and anxious. Really hope things work out for you x

MrsTtobe · 10/04/2020 21:08

I think im prepared for the worse but praying for the best. How long did your bleeding last for? How many weeks are you now? Has all been ok since?
Ive got a pad on but it's mostly just when I wipe. My OH is doing my head in because he keeps saying he's not worried because EPU weren't worried but I'm going out of my mind here. 😭

Now 15 weeks. Bled for almost exactly a week I think. My EPU said if it was just the bleeding alone they wouldn't have been worried but they scanned me because of bleeding in combination with measuring quite small in early scans (IVF pregnancy). Baby still measuring a wee bit small at 12 weeks but otherwise ok, so keeping everything crossed x

Alpacaface · 10/04/2020 21:19

Perfectly natural to be feeling the way you are, it's so awful being terrified of what you'll see every time you go to the loo.

guest2013 · 10/04/2020 21:24

I bled every day from 6 - 18 weeks. It was terrifying but absolutely nothing was wrong and it just stopped one day. It was my third too!

mrshen88 · 10/04/2020 21:38

I’m having the exact same situation as you @MrsTtobe. I’m 11w + 4, spotting started on weds and has been coming and going since then. I’ve called midwife team & maternity triage who said it’s normal/common and not to worry as it’s light and I’ve no pain but that’s easier said than done.

This is my first pregnancy so I feel a bit clueless, hubby just keeps saying to follow what maternity/midwife say and relax. My first scan is on Weds and I’m so worried 😞

MrsTtobe · 10/04/2020 21:40

@Alpacaface thank you its so nice just to talk to people that understand and sympathize. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

@guest2013 oh god that's horrifying. How bad did the bleeding get? What colour was it? Sorry for all the questions. I had the most straightforward pregnancies with my other 2 which were completely unplanned then this one the first one we actively 'tried' for and im a ball of worry. And im usually v laid back.

MrsTtobe · 10/04/2020 21:45

@mrshen88 your hubby sounds as useless as mine. 😂I know they mean well but if he tells me not to worry one more time. 🙄
Yes same here since Wed. I keep going over Tues. We went for a walk and I carried my 2 yr old all the way home (about 15min) then I had backache that night so wondering if I did too much. Because it's my third I've been really laid back in registering with the midwife etc so my first appointment is Tues (over the phone ) no date for scan yet but had a private one at 8+1 and heard the heartbeat. Praying for us both.

@MrsTtobe I've had such varying bleeding.

From a heavy red bleed that tapered off to brown bleeding but lasted for a week in total. That was my second (and current) pregnancy.

In my first I had every type of blood there was. Bright red, pink, dark brown. It was almost constant from 5 - 11 weeks. Mostly when wiping. Not the heavy bleed like in my second, more a constant end of period type bleed. Never filled a pad, twinges not pain.

No one can tell you not to worry, it's totally normal to worry. But just remember, people tend to share the bad stories online, because people don't tend to tell the stories of everything working out ok. That's what I found on my endless googling. Obviously there's a chance things might not end well, but I would say, you are most likely to know if you are miscarrying because the bleeding will get much heavier and you'll probably have pain (though of course this isn't the case for everybody!)

mrshen88 · 10/04/2020 21:52

@MrsTtobe I’ve been doing the same, thinking about what I was doing earlier in the week and I’m sure I’m over-analysing everything!! 🙈

Keeping everything crossed and positive thoughts for us both x

MrsTtobe · 10/04/2020 22:05

@milney25 I think that would put me off going through all that. I just can't deal with this toilet anxiety. Its the worse thing ever. And multipled because of lockdown and so much time to think and go over and over everything.
Yes I agree so just taking it day by day and trying not to think ahead too much. Just going to see what happens and take it from there.

@mrshen88 let me know how you get on Wednesday please. Good luck with everything

MrsTtobe · 11/04/2020 11:52

@mrshen88 hi just wondering how you're doing today? My bleeding still the same really, I would say like a light to medium period. Every time I go to the toilet and wipe. Barely slept noticing every little twinge, imagining I had cramps. Have you had clots or pain? Hope you're ok.

OP posts:
mrshen88 · 11/04/2020 12:49

@mrsTtobe I’m much the same today, I’d say maybe a little lighter if anything and still just when I go to the loo! No pain or clots or anything like that so taking that as a positive. I know maternity triage said they’re not concerned and only to phone back if it gets really heavy/clots/pain etc but they didn’t say how long I should leave it if it keeps going on 🤷🏽‍♀️ Thinking I’ll phone my own midwife team again on Monday if it’s still happening to see what they say.

MrsTtobe · 11/04/2020 12:59

@mrshen88 yes same here. Im confused as to what I do if it just stays the same. She said to only call back if I get pain or soaking through pads. Feel left in limbo.
That's good then. What colour has yours been? Ive had a few little clots which is worrying me and keeps going from pink to brown to reddy/brown. But only really when I wipe.

OP posts:
mrshen88 · 11/04/2020 13:05

@MrsTtobe its sort of been changing tbh when it first started on weds it was just pinky then on Thurs it was quite red so I panicked and that’s when I phoned triage, who went through some questions etc. Today defo back to more pinky/browny. It sort of comes and goes too, sometimes it’s there and seems a wee bit then other times I can’t really see anything. Like you, I feel in limbo too and scared every time I go to the bathroom. Have you had any pain or anything?

MrsTtobe · 11/04/2020 16:11

@mrshen88 mine has been there constantly since Wed morning it's just like a light ish period. No pain though and it's the 4th day so was fully expecting to be in agony by now. I just can't help but think the worse every time I go to the loo. I just don't want to look anymore. 😢

OP posts:
mrshen88 · 12/04/2020 11:42

@MrsTtobe how are you today? I didn’t have anything from mid-afternoon yesterday but it’s back again this morning 😞 thought that it had settled a bit but it seems no such luck!

MrsTtobe · 12/04/2020 12:28

@mrshen88 hey still the same. Im exhausted from it. I keep crying every time I go to the loo. I'm pretty sure ive got cramping too now. 😢
Preparing ourselves for the worse.
Is yours the same as before or heavier? X

OP posts:
mrshen88 · 12/04/2020 13:20

@MrsTtobe I’d say it’s a bit lighter than before. Still going to ring midwife team tomorrow to see how long I should just keep dealing with this and still fearing the worst for the scan day. Hope you are okay x

MrsTtobe · 13/04/2020 17:26

@mrshen88 hey, how are things with you today? X
