Anyone else's consultant appointment cancelled?

Understandably due to covid 19 my consultant appointment on 14th has been cancelled. As far as I'm aware my midwife appointments will continue unless I'm told otherwise. I'm 18 weeks with a high risk pregnancy due to previous losses. Anyone else in the same boat?

Mine got cancelled also, however was advised they are working their way through their list of patients to see who needs to be seen face to face and who can have phone call consults by my local hospital. Maybe this will be the case for you too.

Mine are still happening but have been cut from 2 x week to weekly and now fortnightly. Tbh I would much rather avoid the hospital now if I could...
Can you try to combine the consultant appt with your 20 week scan (seeing as you will already be at the hosp)?

London91 · 01/04/2020 17:22

@chickennuggets2 They never mentioned anything like that. Just it's cancelled and they'll let me know when it will be rebooked. Just a bit concerning. All I can do is speak to the midwife if I see them next month, depending on if they cancel that appointment.

@Robs20 Unfortunately my scans are done at a different location to the consultant appointments, so this wouldn't be possible.

@London91 I had to call the hospital about blood tests I was supposed to have and that's when they told me so maybe give them a call and ask what the plan is. They are still seeing me but I'm 36 weeks so maybe it will be the last time, I'm a bit worried about going to the hospital as @Robs20 said I would rather avoid if I could Sad

chickennuggets2 · 01/04/2020 17:36

Sorry I was supposed to add they called me today to day they will still see me so rebooked the appointment they originally cancelled

Nolie100 · 01/04/2020 17:45

I had a 36 week appointment with a diabetic consultant cancelled (I have gestational diabetes). I was told only come for scans all other appointments cancelled or over the phone.

I'm in Glasgow and 27 weeks. I've had my consultant and growth scan cancelled. I'm
High risk due to high chance of baby having Down syndrome and a previous still birth. I've been released back to community midwife care.
I'm utterly terrified.

Catlover10 · 01/04/2020 18:44

Mine was done over the phone instead this week but the consultant booked a further appointment in a couple of weeks which will be in person this time, so it doesn’t mean you won’t be seen if she feels you need to be!

Hodge85 · 01/04/2020 19:50

I ended up ringing to see where my appointment was as it should have came in the post and only then was I told that all clinics have been cancelled. I was advised to get my blood test done next week, as planned, and the consultant will be in touch. I'm nearly 30 weeks and have to have my thyroid levels checked every 4 weeks due to having my thyroid removed last year. I worry that necessary care like this is being overlooked, I appreciate they're stretched and taking precautions but this is causing unnecessary worry Sad I've got a growth scan next week and as far as I know that is still going ahead as planned, fingers crossed x

London91 · 01/04/2020 20:17

@chickennuggets2 I'll definitely try calling this week.

@Nolie100 I'd have thought that they'd be keeping an eye on you more, best of luck! You must be so excited!

@Blizy Fingers crossed for you. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I can understand you being terrified. If you're concerned definitely raise it with you midwife and hopefully if needed they'll refer you or ask you're seen by the consultant.

@Catlover10 thank you, I'll definitely chase it this week. But they didn't tell me anything about a telephone appointment.

@Hodge85 this is my worry exactly, I understand the need for all the precautions but I'm worried I'll receive different care to what I would have done pre Covid 19.

I just had my 28 week appointment with the midwife today (at the hospital as my GPs is shut).

She said the 31 week appointment will be by phone but 34 weeks should be in person as things stand. They're just trying to limit contact as much as they can.

I'm consultant led too OP. If it helps, it was just a chat with him at that appointment - no examination or anything. And I think that's the only time I'll be seeing him.
