Anyone getting a migraine daily?

13 weeks and I have been getting terrible migraines all throughout the pregnancy Sad
It was usually 1 a week and now it’s becoming a daily occurrence. My eye balls are in agony and my head is banging. GP prescribed labetalol a beta blocker but I’m hesitant to take it. My blood pressure is low anyway 60/90 and I’m worried it will get too low. Any suggestions? I’m in bed most the day every day as the pain is so bad. Sad

Hi yes! I've had a terrible one all day and paracetamol and water haven't touched it. Mine started a few weeks ago and are getting progressively worse...I suffer with anxiety so I'm wondering if it's stress related even though I think I'm coping well! I find Kool n soothe strips really help me. I'm 13+6 today. Hope you feel better soon x

Amberb82 · 01/04/2020 16:06

Urgh SAME! I'm 16 weeks and it's becoming a daily thing now 😫 they start about 4pm and then once I've put my son to bed I'm going to bed myself as can't deal with the pain! Struggling to sleep through it but being in a dark room helps!
I mentioned it to midwife at check up but she just said it's pretty common 😕 hoping it's just a symptom that will fade soon ... I never had them with my first. I swear OH thinks I'm making it up as an excuse to go to bed 😂 x

Sorry you’re both feeling the same Sad just rang the midwife in tears as I’ve had it for 3 days now and I’m in chronic pain. She told me I need to call the gp there’s nothing they can do. Feeling so fed up x

I can really really sympathise with you on this one . I was getting them daily and they told me I wasn’t drinking enough, but I was drinking loads . The only thing that eases it is 4head rub . But it’s miserable as it doesn’t prevent them. I had a break from them, and they’ve come back again daily at 19 weeks almost. The only thing that I’m pleased about is I’m off work for 12 weeks to socially distance so at least I’m not working . I suggest trying the 4head rub if you can get some off amazon xx

I am totally sympathetic, you poor thing.

Two things helped me. 1) was daily caffeine (a can of coke as couldn't tolerate tea);
2) at 14 weeks they got lots better, and remained that way.

Definitely try and get a phone GP appointment and mention your fears about the beta blockers, very valid

quarantinevibes · 01/04/2020 21:08

Thank you garlicbread I will try the 4head rub. I hope they ease up for you Flowers

lefthertoherown thanks I will try the coke, glad they have eased up for you in the 2nd trimister. Spoken to the GP on the phone this afternoon. She said never mind the low bp I must try the beta blockers before they try anything else x

Hello, I had this terribly towards the end of the first/ start of second trimester, I never get bad Headaches let alone migraines so was knocked off my feet, I had to lie down/ go to sleep in a darkened room a few times.

It did completely ease off and has now stopped, I can't remember when, definitely before 20 weeks.

The only things that really helped me were staying very well hydrated and yes as a PP says daily caffeine, one cuppa in the morning, id gone cold turkey and it definitely didn't work for me!

Prettylittlelady · 01/04/2020 21:17

Hi, I’m 11+6 and for the past week I’ve been getting bad headaches - literally have no painkillers in the house that I can take, I’ve been massaging my temples and using tiger balm which I might not actually be able to use but I’ve been putting a little on the side of my head to help me sleep, it tends to be more in the evenings.

Greenmarmalade · 01/04/2020 21:20

If you have a banging headache/visual disturbances you should always check with a midwife though. I had this and had my urine checked... high ketones (or something) and raised BP and was admitted to hospital with suspected pre-eclampsia. So worth checking it out in case.

AnxiousKerry · 02/04/2020 07:25

Hello. Im 25 weeks and have been getting awful headaches along with visual disturbances because if the migraines. Had all the tests done. Everything is normal just hormonal headaches.
The only thing that I find helps me is drinking loads and napping as much as I can (which with a toddler is hard anyway). It was the same with the last baby. Atleast when baby is here your headaches should get better XXX it's awful isn't it.

quarantinevibes · 02/04/2020 19:43

Thank you for all the replies. By the sounds of it they should ease off then in the second trimister. Really hoping so!! I’ve tried to have a nap today and keep hydrated. I can’t stomach tea at the moment so will buy some coke when I can next get a food shop Flowers thank you all, and I hope you all feel better from these horrible migraines soon xxx

I have the exact same thing and am only 8 weeks pregnant :( I was sick 14 times the other day due to the pain being so bad :( hopefully it won't last long for all of us!

quarantinevibes · 03/04/2020 21:32

@N12345625 that sounds awful, speak to your gp or midwife if they carry on any longer!! hope things improve for you xxx

I got these too! Was so bloody painful. I would be debilitated for days with them. Somebody gave me 4head rub and that really helped, well enough to get to sleep.

I found my headaches went away at around 14-15 weeks.

Fingers crossed yours disappear soon x

quarantinevibes · 04/04/2020 09:46

@Maggie90 thank you, I thought there was something wrong with me being in bed for days in agony. Reassuring to here I’m not the only one then. I’m glad yours have subdued now x

I’ve just posted about this, so glad to find your post just under mine it has reassured me, I’ve had a headache since 6 o’clock this morning. I can’t tell if it’s a migraine or not but it’s terrible I am very pale and feel knocked about. I don’t normally suffer from them x

quarantinevibes · 04/04/2020 16:26

@Littlebb2020 oh dear, have you taken anything? How are you feeling now? I feel for you it’s awful isn’t it Sad x

Yes some paracetamol This morning and trying to drink more water ( I can’t stand water rn it makes me gag) so not been drinking as much. Feel better than I did, but still look ghostly white! And just a mild headache now how are you?

quarantinevibes · 04/04/2020 17:35

I’m glad you’re feeling better. I can’t handle water at the moment either it’s making me feel really sick! I’m just drinking a coke trying to get some caffeine in, I haven’t had a migraine today thank you so feeling much better than the rest of the week xx
