Hi All! I've got my first scan next week and have been told that you can no longer wait around for test results which they usually give within an hour or two. Has anyone experienced this and how long did it take for them to ring with your test results? I'm really nervous about it and want to know them ASAP but have visions of it taking days.

Which tests are you referring to - the downs/Edwards syndrome tests?
I had my first scan last Wednesday and got my results back for downs/Edwards syndrome back today so it wasn’t that long. My colleague had her first scan today and they said she should have her results within 5 days.
Wasn’t aware you could wait around for the results (ever)?

When I was pregnant with my son (he's 3.5 now) you didn't get given any sort of results on the day. You were just told your due date.

Same as previous posts. At the 12 week scan you were only told if the pregnancy is viable. Any test results came through the post or to the midwife a couple of weeks later

Yes what the other ladies said you don't get your results straight away, if there was a problem I was told they would ring you in a couple of days if all is fine then you just receive a letter through the post between 5-7 days.

Thanks all for your replies. We're at Kings who are a foetal research unit so they testing they offer does give results the same day for Downs and Edward's syndrome usually. The information that came with the appointment letter implied the testing was different to standard testing, but I don't know enough about it to know the difference!

The nuchal measurement will give you a good idea and normally they tell you that straight away. Then they'll post the results to you.

@Treaclepie19 I think that's what I was thinking of. Still getting to grips with all of it!
