Anyone else?!

I'm obviously very worried about the baby. I'm only 10 weeks and looking for a handhold.

Im pretty sure my DS 17 months caught it first so I caught in from him. I've been so careful.

Does anyone know if any problems might show up on my 12 week scan? Or would it only be 20 weeks?

I had an early private scan at 9 weeks and everything was really good. Good heartbeat etc.

I’m sorry you’re not very well but try not to worry.

There is zero definitive evidence that Covid-19 can be transmitted to your baby. The very few case studies that show potential vertical transmission in this way have multiple methodological flaws and there are greater numbers of studies (albeit only a few still) where no transmission has been found. Admittedly there have been no studies on 1st and 2nd trimester but nothing major has been found of concern or reported.

It would be very rare for a respiratory virus to spread to your baby and/or cause harm.

Fevers in the first trimester are less desirable but the risks associated with them can be massively (almost totally) decreased through regular paracetamol use. Taking folic acid regularly also helps as the risks tend to be related to neural tube defects (and at 10 weeks the neural tube is totally formed and closed so that’s great news!)

It’s such a worrying time. I’m 5 weeks pregnant and fearful too of getting ill in the first trimester but honestly it’s more than likely to be fine. I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Yeah i (& my phone doc) are pretty sure I have the virus. 8 weeks pregnant. As above I am taking paracetamol regularly, keeping up with the vitamins and trying to stay calm. Stress is not your friend. Hope you feel better soon it is miserable

Ah thanks ladies!

Yes I've been trying to keep my temperature under control. I did have one evening where it went haywire and I couldn't stop shivering.

Taking my vitamins. It's actually not been too horrendous and I'm hopeful I'm on the mend.

Stressful time though!

Hi OP. I’m almost 8 weeks pregnant and I have been really nervous about this. It’s a scary time and when I had my midwife appointment this week I raised with her - she said that little is known about the impact of covid19 in pregnancy BUT not to worry. And she is a pro!
I’ve read with an eagle eye the studies mentioned by another poster too and they are generally reassuring. Try looking on the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as they have some reassuring info and place the concerns in context.
I also read a newspaper article yesterday about a lady in the uk who had contracted COVID in her second trimester and she had made a good recovery and her baby was fine. Please try and just concentrate on being as healthy as you can - stress is your immune systems enemy!
Take care of yourself xxxFlowers
