Telephone midwife appointment

Hi all, just passing on some useful info as we're all self isolating (hopefully) and probably all getting a bit worried.

I've got my 16 week midwife appointment next week and just called the midwives to check it was necessary and the said that actually the 16 week ones aren't vital, they're more of a check in, so they are offering telephone appointments for the 16 week check.

I'm dead happy with that. I know they won't take my blood pressure or my urine sample but I'd much rather a call than having to go to the giant health centre full of people.

Could be a lot of midwives are now doing this?

Hi
I’ve got my 16 week appointment mid April and I have also been told it will be over the phone, we’ll also be going through the results from my 12 week appointment at the hospital.
I think any pregnancy that is consultant based would require a face to face appointment.

I'm consultant led so there is no way they can't check my bp and urine as these are vital health checks for me as I had severe sudden onset pre eclampsia with my son. Frankly I'm worried about all of this as I'm due in August and we have no idea how things are going and there seems to be absolutely no info available which doesn't help. I also have my 20 week scan next week and I imagine I'll have to go alone as we have no child care

I had my 16 week appointment today and was told my 25 week (1st pregnancy) would be cancelled and they’d be doing as much as they can over the phone. My 20 week scan might be moved as currently would be at a big hospital with lots of confirmed cases. Midwife also said they’d probably do my blood pressure and urine at the 20 week scan just to fit in as much as possible.

Yep, I'm consultant led too. That allows is still in person.

I have my first midwife appointment in April, do you think this one will be cancelled? I'm currently 6 weeks and the appointments at 9 weeks. I know they have to take bloods etc and it's quite a long appointment. I'm worried if it gets cancelled because I know they do all the important tests!

I am 6 weeks too and just been told my 8 month appointment will be done over the phone and a very brief appointment will be held for bloods and urine.

Disco38 · 20/03/2020 16:17

8 week*

Clo1997cc · 20/03/2020 16:37

Thank you for letting me know! At least the relevant tests will be carried out, that's what I was most worried about

Amazon do reasonable prices blood pressure monitors and Uti stick testers.
Iv brought some so I can check incase I can't go to mw appointments as the future seems so uncertain :(
