Shock on the scales!

I have put on almost a stone since getting pregnant and not even half way through yet! How much are we all gaining? Or how much did you gain at the end! The beige buffet of the first 12 weeks has not helped me here! 😭🤣

That's not too bad hun I weighed myself the other day and burst into tears as I'm 4 stone heavier than normal. Although I hadn't lost all the baby weight from my 1st pregnancy and my children will be 15 months apart. 🙁🙁

BabyB19 · 16/03/2020 12:42

Its a shock isn't it @csmw I'm laughing about it as I'm sure now I'm eating properly again it won't be so bad and obviously weight gain is a given, I'm just curious what the real figures are rather than on the scales 😊 I'm sure with two under 2 you will soon lose it! 🏃🏼‍♀️

I think mine was over that at that point! I am now 26+4 and have decides that I am no longer weighing myself for the entire pregnancy or I will cry 😂😂😂

csmw · 16/03/2020 12:49

@BabyB19 I keep telling myself it's just fluid and the baby and I lose 2 stone as soon as I've given birth 🤣🙈.
I hope so I've always been fairly slim and I'm 6ft1 but now I look like the esso man.

firstimemamma · 16/03/2020 12:52

I put on over a stone by only 10 weeks then things calmed down a bit. Put on a total of 3 stone overall and by the time I was 6 months postpartum I was back to the 9 stone I was before I got pregnant and that was with zero effort / lots of eating. Please don't worry. Weight gain is healthy and normal in pregnancy. Relax, eat and enjoy!

BabyB19 · 16/03/2020 12:55

Oh wow so I'm doing pretty ok then really aren't I! @Catlover10 @firstimemamma I'm really not worried it was just a bit of a shock as I'd not really given it much thought until this morning when I noticed the scales in the bathroom.
You're lucky @csmw at 5.3" I'm like a tank already 🤣 I hope you get your instant 2 stone loss on giving birth 🤞🏼🤣
I'm already not a skinny bird as it is so I'm hoping not to put masses on but as long as baby is healthy I couldn't care less ❤️🥰

Please don't feel bad. I had horrific morning sickness and then an early diagnosis of gestational diabetes which means that, at 23 weeks, I weigh LESS than I did when I fell pregnant. In the last few weeks I have finally started putting on a tiny bit of weight (and stopped feeling constantly nauseous!). I have felt horrifically guilty about it and the midwives have been wonderfully reassuring at telling me that no matter how much or little we eat, baby gets what they need from us even if it leaves us depleted. I would absolutely love to have your problem rather than mine!

MissyGirl29 · 16/03/2020 13:11

@BabyB19 i put on just over a stone by 14 weeks i think it was and it made me so sad because i know it wasnt the baby - i couldnt stop bloody eating, like i was possessed! im 20 weeks now and since 2nd trimester my eating has been better - not how it used to be , but better than it was! haha - I have also refused to go on the scales and im not planning to either. No point in working myself / yourself over, its going to happen regardless so ignore that little scale demon!! xx

BabyB19 · 16/03/2020 13:16

Sorry you've had such a bad time @pinknsparkly as I said previously it's not a problem I couldn't care less as long as the baby is ok. Glad you're starting to recover from it now 🤞🏼
I've been the same @MissyGirl29 not even because I was being greedy as such but because I am genuinely starving all the bloody time 🤣 I will probably weigh again towards the end just out of curiosity but nothing else 🥰 xx

I've put on nearly a stone and a half and am 33 weeks. I'm wondering how much of that is baby and how much is all the food I've been eating!

PrinnyPree · 16/03/2020 13:32

My BMI was 25.5 before pregnancy and I've put on about a pound for every week pregnant and had gained a stone by week 13/14 currently at 30+2. I also ate my way out of the first trimesters nausea and metallic mouth taste.

happymummy12345 · 16/03/2020 13:42

I put on 10kg throughout my whole pregnancy. Baby was 6lb 7oz then the sac on top so I didn't actually put on much at all.
I didn't have a round belly after giving birth either, was back to normal almost straight away and wearing my normal clothes straight away as well (wore mostly my normal clothes anyway and just got some bits in the next size up, never bothered with maternity clothes as didn't need them or see the point).

Caspianberg · 16/03/2020 14:19

I have put on 13kg so far (33 weeks) - 2 stone in old scales.

It seems a lot, but my BMI was only 18 something at 12 weeks scan so I think I have mainly just put on what was needed by baby. I have mainly just gained a bump and some larger boobs.

I have been trying to eat healthily. But ate a whole bag of mini eggs earlier... Now with this corona, also quarantined here so can't get out of walks easily.

MamaBearThius · 16/03/2020 14:40

I've gained 3 stone so far at 28 weeks. The only way I survived HG was meds and regular thick buttered white toast. And I've been pretty lazy since finding out I have Placenta Previa, all adds up. Going to go on regular lovely summer walks with baby and toddler when she's born though and imagining all this extra tub will fall off Grin

BabyB19 · 16/03/2020 15:47

Thanks for everyone's replies, seems varied but likelihood is a couple of stone+ gain to be expected. But what a good reason to be gaining weight hey ladies 🤷🏽‍♀️🤰🏻🤱🏽

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy Smile

Thank you @firstimemamma for your replies and well wishes! 😘

Currently up to 2 stone at 25 weeks! Had a real shock, a stone per trimester so far. The ravenous hunger seems to be subsiding a bit finally though so hopefully the gain from now on will be mostly baby! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

By week 22 i had gained 7kg...
Since then I’ve stopped weighing myself because I don’t think knowing is better for my mental health than not knowing.
Bump is growing nicely (keeping to his centile) and I’ve been healthy throughout in terms of blood pressure ect so I honestly don’t think I’ll weigh myself again until I’m back in the gym for a while postpartum xx

BabyB19 · 08/05/2020 15:30

I thought I would check at each trimester end @Siobhan1989 just to make sure I'm not gaining to rapidly or too slowly that it would indicate a problem but otherwise I haven't bothered. I won't again now until before I go in to hospital at the end (purely because I will love seeing that massive initial loss afterwards 🤣) x

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 08/05/2020 17:48

I'm 29 weeks and have gained 9lbs. I've been fortunate in that I completely went off anything sweet from 5 weeks and still don't want anything sweet!

I'm craving healthy foods and can't eat too much otherwise I'm super uncomfortable. I also walk for an hour a day.

I gained 3 stone with my first child years ago so very glad this pregnancy went the other way! Baby is measuring fine so I'm obviously eating enough Smile

quarantinevibes · 08/05/2020 18:17

I’m 18 weeks and I’ve gained a stone and a half x

Lilice · 08/05/2020 18:20

@BabyB19 I dare not step of the scales 🤣🤣🤣

sel2223 · 08/05/2020 18:34

I haven't even stepped on s set of scales since my booking in appointment and I won't until a midwife or doctor asks me too.
I've got enough body issues already without beating myself up over something I can't control.

Lilice · 08/05/2020 19:24

@sel2223 exactly same as me
