Have been reading recently that people have used EMLA numbing cream to achieve penetration the first few times before trying without it? Anyone experienced this?

I can use all three sizes of dilators from small to penile size but my entire body still clenches when it comes to partner trying. Achieved penetration once in December but not since then. I’m hoping if I use the EMLA cream it might get me over that fear as the vaginal muscles seem to have opened.. its just me now!

It’s such a horrible thing to deal with.

I suffered with this years ago, long before my ttc journey began so thankfully it didn’t affect that.

But at the time it was horrendous. It started out of nowhere with my the fiancé who I’d been with a couple of years. Luckily I saw a doctor who had heard of vaginismus and referred me to a psycho sexual counsellor. Unfortunately the wait was so long that during the 6 months or so I was waiting, the vaginismus actually just went away.

I wasn’t ever told about any creams or anything I could use to help. I was only referred for the counselling.

But if I was back in that situation again I would 100% have been willing to try anything to make sex possible. Then I think once you’ve managed it pain free a few times, I think your muscles will naturally begin to relax.

But I really do feel for you, it’s horrible when your body doesn’t listen to your brain!

Just wondering did the EMLA work for you for successful penetration without pain with Vaginismus.Does it sting when you use it

There is some great lubricant called replens you can get online.

I don’t have vaginismus but when I was ttc I was on a brilliant supportive thread for those of us trying home insemination due to a variety of issues. There were two ladies on there with vaginismus that it was working for. I can vouch for the method as I’m now 11 weeks pregnant after 2 tries.
I’ll leave other people with more knowledge to help with the issue of having penetrative sex but thought I’d share in case you want to think of alternative ways to get pregnant in the meantime
