Hi all just looking for some advice, im 16 weeks pregnant and seem to be loosing weight. Ive lost 12lb since my booking appointment at 8 weeks, ive had a few days of morning sickness but nothing major. Is this normal? Im overweight, have a higher bmi and also on Labetalol for high blood pressure. Should i be concerned?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Suggest raising this with your midwife.

Have you changed your diet? Healthier diet / no alcohol perhaps?

DropYourSword · 01/03/2020 13:57

It’s not “normal” in that it’s not usual. It depends on a host of other factors if it’s particularly concerning though. When’s your next midwife appointment?

puds11 · 01/03/2020 13:58

Did you drink alcohol frequently before pregnancy? Could be loss of sugars from that?

If you have started off with a high BMI then I wouldn't be concerned. I lost over two stone with both of my successful pregnancies and didn't suffer with morning sickness.

Maybe you are thinking about your baby and making healthier choices. Maybe you had a hormonal balance before and now you are pregnant this has improved. As always though If worried speak to your midwife.

Im 35 weeks and my bmi is now very high was normal at booking I was told last week not to gain anymore weight but I've actually lost 5lb in a week as ive cut all the bad stuff out doctors aren't concerd as baby will still take what she needs from me have u been eating more healthy ?

puds11 · 01/03/2020 14:06

I lost about half a stone. Is it the same scales you are weighing yourself on? There tends to be a discrepancy between scales. Obviously worth mentioning to your midwife though.

Rubyroost · 01/03/2020 14:10

I'm assuming if you're getting the calories you need then so will baby. I'm no expert though.

Rainbow714 · 01/03/2020 14:14

Yeah they are the same scales, i weigh on the same day and same time each week. Just wanted to keep an eye on my weight so i diddnt gain as much as i did in my previous pregnancy.
