I'm 34 weeks and just inserted a thrush pessary to help treat the infection. I inserted without the applicator. It now feels very sore and stinging down there and also seem to be leaking some discharge. Is this normal?

Those symptoms are symptoms of actual thrush, are you sure you just haven’t aggravated the thrush a bit more by poking about down there? I doubt it is to do with the pessary and that takes a lot longer to work.

Hope it sorts it out, I get recurring thrush and it is painful and awful to deal with ! Angry

I'm not sure as I took the oral tablet (don't think you can take it in pregnancy though) agree with PP it sounds like you have irritated area.

I inserted without an applicator and got very sore quite quickly. When I checked I hadn’t pushed it up far enough - could that be the case for you too? Once I did that the discomfort reduced to what it was before (which was just the angry thrush). Discharge can be part of thrush too, so between the thrush and pessary, that’s probably normal too.

Yeah I did this too and it was very sore ! I had to push it in a bit further and it was okay. Hard to put in without applicator!
