20 week scan seems FOREVER AWAY 😩

I had a perfect 12 week scan in Feb, the 13th. Everything was fine the baby was dancing around , she found it hard to get a photo as it was moving so much, spot on heart beat, my bloods all normal, fluid on babies neck etc perfectly fine .
My 20 week scan isn’t until 9th April! So I’ve booked in for a private at 16 weeks to ‘break up’ the wait as I am so anxious but even that seems ages away - 16th March!! What can I do to stop worrying in the meantime ? I have no reason to worry but I’m still so anxious that baby isn’t ok even though I’ve had no cramps , no bleeding at all, scan was perfect . I think it’s because I don’t have any symptoms anymore now I’m 13 weeks, I feel totally normal . Can anyone give me some words of wisdom, tips, or anything to help me please ? It’s our first baby and very much wanted !!

Unless something is actually happening to make you worry (pain, bleeding etc), then try to relax! Odds are if you've got this far that everything will be fine. I'm usually sick as a dog until at least 16 weeks but I know lots of people experience a tailing off of symptoms around the 11 weeks mark and it's totally normal. Congratulations!

No advice I'm afraid - just to say I'm here with you! My scan was on the 13/2 as well and April seems like a lifetime away! I've been struggling with worry and a lot more emotional this week than previously. Booking a private scan is a good idea! x

I'm in the same boat I'm 13+3 and my 20 week scan isn't till 22nd April. I'm definitely going to book a private scan in between.

The end of the first trimester is always trotted out as being the time when symptoms tail off so I really wouldn’t worry about that. I still have some nausea now at 18 weeks which is shit, I’d have loved it to fully end by 13 weeks!

I understand the anxiety, I feel it too but statistically speaking everything will be ok for you. The vast majority of miscarriages happen in the first trimester, most are by week 6.

Thanks everyone , just can’t seem to stop thinking about it all! 👶🏼😩 I’ve never wanted something so much and never loved something so much like this before even meeting the little one yet, just seeing it bouncing on that screen made my heart burst I can’t wait to see them again at the scan !

Same as me, 13 weeks. Waiting for my 20 weeks scan!!! Booked private 16 weeks and trying to think positive everyday. Can’t wait to start to feel baby move, need some reassurance !!!!

OP I could have written your original message! I had my 12 week scan on the 7th Feb and we’ve booked a scan at 16 weeks for the 8th March, then 20 week scan on 8th April. I honestly find it reassuring reading this thread and knowing I’m not the only one feeling like this! My husband keeps telling me to calm down as I have no worrying symptoms whatsoever so everything is more than likely to be completely fine. It’s just so hard isn’t it! I’ve found I almost miss feeling so sick and tired now that I feel back to normal, and I can’t wait to start feeling baby moving because then at least I’ll know they are still in there! Smile

Yeah, same here - my 12 weeks scan put the baby at 12+5 and my 20 week will be at 20+5... these are feeling like a very long 8 weeks! It's 17th March I'm waiting for, so it's starting to feel ever so slightly closer now, but still a long time. We're getting very impatient wanting to know if it's a boy or a girl, and I want the reassurance again of seeing it all healthy.

Bby20 · 25/02/2020 21:21

I agree, it feels like such a long 8 weeks! I had my 16 week private scan yesterday which was reassuring, but 4 more weeks still feels like such a long time! I'm just trying to keep busy.

Isn't it just the longest wait in the world! Its such a bizarre feeling to just spend weeks on end wandering round living your life and hoping everything is going ok with no real way of knowing for sure. Essentially, no news is good news I think - as long as you've no concerning symptoms you've just got to assume everything is fine.

We couldn't justify the expense of a 16wk private scan as the gender/reassurance scan is a bit more expensive with twins, so have just been waiting (im)patiently since early Jan when we had our 12 week. Our 20 week is 11th march, so it's finally starting to feel a bit closer... Can't wait to find out what flavour these babies are and see if everyone is doing ok in there. Smile
