Nursery decoration ideas

Hello all! Just wondering what colours everyone is painting their nurseries? We’re having a boy (due early June) and we have tested 8-9 paints and don’t like any? We’ve looked at blues, yellows and taupe colours. We have non descript beige carpets and want something quite minimalist.

What’s everyone planning? X

Hey..we painted ours grey and put wall stickers on. We're having a girl and didn't want to paint it pink or girly! x

Ours is painted cobblestone-grey, with one blue wall with stickers.

Ours for a boy was grey blue colour with gold star stickers on one wall. When he moves out and DD moves in there in a few months I'll update with some new wall stickers.

Purposely went for a colour that was adaptable for future babies. Eventually will become DDs proper bedroom and not just the nursery so the colour will work when she's a bit older too

Ours is painted French Gray by F&B with framed animal prints on the wall. It is going to be the guest room once we've finished building work and I didn't want to paint it twice so just went with something neutral. The babies' next bedroom will probably be the same colour or painted a warm white.

Although my first is a girl I went for a soft duck egg blue with two walls in cloud wallpaper.

It'll be in my room for at least six months anyway so... I'm not. (I read someone describe it as, 'a nursery ends up as a shrine to what you thought having a baby would be like', which rather resonated with me.) Once it's bigger I'll turn the spare room into its room, but even then I can't think I'll be doing any decorating immediately. It'll be a baby, it won't be fussed. Once it's big enough to have actual preferences, I'll think about it then.

Am mainly doing white so all my walls are white apart from 1 which will have a white wallpaper on with a very soft grey elephant on and my cot and change are also grey but then am putting coloured animal prints into gold/ brass photo frames and same with accessories and then adding splashes of colour with accessories like chair and throw etc x

I am doing grey and white with navy accessories. I looked on pintrest for a lot of ideas x

Ours is painted magnolia with wall stickers of woodland creatures/trees on it.

Look up www.enchanted-interiors.co.uk/ - it looks like its also where @mumma2b2020 got her stickers from too. I highly recommend them.

Ours is adventure/safari themed got most of our things from amazon and eBay x

We did the same as @Persipan, neither of mine have had a "nursery". In our room until 12 months and 2.5 years respectively (they share and #2 didn't sleep through until then so wasn't fair to force it) and decorated to suit their tastes later on.

pale green and white; traditional and lush!

We have one wall wallpapered with alphabet zoo in blue (Sanderson) and then colour matched the slightly off white background for paint.

Prior to deciding this I was going to do one wall darker blue with stars and moons wall stickers.

What age do people tend to redo their childs room from then nursery decor out of interest?

We're having a boy and went for white walls with blue elephant bunting on and a grey cloud wallpaper so it can easily be changed as he gets older. Mind the hospital bags and car seats in the pic.

Its our first and have been super excited with moving into our own house and being able to decorate a nursery ^^ We are having a girl and also living my pink fantasy heh. Walls are white though and just decorations are pink so when she is old enough it will be easy enough to switch things out to her preferences =) and then the unicorn items can come into my room lol!

We did exactly the same as @Persipan. Thought it was pointless wasting time, energy and money on decorating a room for the sake of it for a baby who couldn’t care less about the decor.

Hi everyone I have two 7 month old cats and I'm 24 weeks pregnant, we don't want to rehome these babies but I am struggling so much as they are spraying all over the house and I can't let them out and around the house without them ripping wallpaper and curtains in every room (they are house cats) we've bought endless amounts of cat trees and scratchers and they have a room full of toys but we don't want to let them out as there is a lot of foxes in our area and I don't think they'd come back anyway because they've never been out. Is there anyone that has experienced this or can help me I've been so broken over it and I don't know what to do but I can't bring a new baby home with the smell that's in the house as it's in the kitchen where i will have bottles ect and it's not fair to keep them in their room we made them all of the time

Have you tried feliway?

The alternative is a cat flap out to an external enclosure, a cat run.

Or put them in a harness and gradually introduce them to outside and independence- cats are territorial and it sounds like for some reason they are stressed. It would be easier for you if they were outdoor cats.

Use a pet enzyme spray on the cat spray, it dissolves the pheromone and discourages repeats.you can get on amazon. Also note it works for child wee!

Do they have their own places to chill? A high shelf, out of the way they can retreat to, a warm room where no one is in and out. The baby is likely to stress them so prepare in advance.

We didn’t decorate. The room was already white and DT’s wouldn’t care what colour it was. When they were toddlers and each had their own bedroom, we decorated and they had some input into the colour and design. From memory I think DS wanted trains and DD cars.

Ours was a lovely light brightish green. I think it was called "Angel's Palace". It was a lovely fresh, cheerful he relaxing colour. It looked lovely with white nursery furniture and soft grey carpet and blinds. We've moved now, but it was my favourite room in the house. We didn't know sex of baby but I wouldn't ever have gone for anything "gendered".

Now we have a plain white room for our youngest (new build) and I have bought some rainbow and cloud wall decals to cheer it up a bit!

@sequinednostrils I'll have to try that thank you ! They are so naughty and yeah they have there own room with lots of enclosed spaces and toys but they are so naughty! I've been getting really stressed out and I know it's not good for baby and won't be when he's here I couldn't even imagine giving them away it's heartbreaking but my baby has to come first and with the smell and the behaviour it's going to be very hard they were very expensive cats(ones a rag doll and one is a persian) and of course that's not the only reason I don't want to let them out but I feel like they are too soft to protect themselves outside there like little babies xx
