We've been trying for 10 months now for #1. Appreciate in grand scheme it's not long but 3/4 way down a wine bottle after AF turns up once again and feeling very blue.
Tell me about your BFP moments. I need some lovely positive stories from wonderful Mumsnet ladies Star

I was in such shock that It was finally a BFP that I put the pee stick in my cardigan pocket and took it to school (I’m a teacher!). It got to lunch time and I walked into a colleagues room and put said pee stick on her desk and didn’t say anything. She jokes now that it was like having a 15 year old student who’d just found out ... not a 29 year old who was actively TTC 😂

I really hope you get your BFP soon OP Flowers sending lots of baby dust xxxx

It was boxing Day 2009. We'd being having treatment for a couple for months. I woke my husband up at 6am waving a pee stick under his nose shouting, 'Is it a cross? IS IT A CROSS!!' It was indeed a cross and my son is now 9 and is amazing. Fingers crossed for you.

I just KNEW I was pregnant, had done for a few days! Anyway I had been away for the night with my fiance, nice meal, hotel stay etc. The next morning he suggested going to the local big shopping complex, I said I'm going to buy a pregnancy test, he looked horrified 🙈 anyway I got a 2 pack from poundland, then genuinely needed the toilet quite quickly after. Partner said don't you dare do a test in that toilet, well I did but I didn't wait for the results, just put it back in my bag and we headed for the car. As he was driving along the motorway I thought I would check it. There were the 2 darkest lines ever on the test! I just burst out and said 'I'm pregnant!' Poor bloke was trying to concentrate on driving and taking in that news! Anyway we got home and I worked out I was only 3+5 so spent the next few weeks convinced I was having twins as I'm a twin 😂 turned out to be just one lovely baby boy who came 4 weeks early! Sending you all the luck and the love in the world for a BFP soon Flowers

My pregnancy wasn't planned. In the week leading up to my bfp I'd been feeling ill/been sick, peeing loads, usually wouldn't eat till lunch time but I'd been so hungry I had to eat or I'd feel ill. At first I hadn't noticed the symptoms for what they were ..... Then I started wondering where my period was and I was wracking my brains trying to remember my last period which I concluded was 6 weeks ago and all of a sudden the feeling ill, hunger and peeing loads was starting to make sense. I went to tesco with my 2 kids and I picked up a 2 pack test and box of folic acid. My kids were being really annoying and as my stuff went through the checkout the checkout lady gave me a wee look as if she knew this was a total surprise pregnancy. I went home and did the test and the line was bold, no mistaking it. I couldn't believe it!! It was such a surprise to be pregnant. My other 2 kids were planned and especially dc2 who took a year to conceive. It was just mad that I could be pregnant totally out the blue like that! I told the dad over the phone and did another test with him. We were both happy and shocked. I was shocked for a few weeks. I'm 26w now Smile

Ktn35 · 21/02/2020 21:38

We had a chemical last month and so I decided to start using Natural Cycles as a few of my friends have fallen pregnant using it. I assumed I was out this month too as I wasn't sure we had had enough sex but something told me to take a test when I was on the loo on Wednesday. I used a crappy internet test I had and it came up almost immediately even though I was 3 days off my period and it was evening pee! I then had to lie to my partner and tell him I hadn't tested yet and repeat the process because I promised him I wouldn't test early on my own again 😩😩😂

Now have an insanely strong line on a FR the day before period was due ... I was so sure I was out this month!

Good luck to you 🥰

iStruggleWithThePast · 21/02/2020 21:43

We were TTC for 27 months before i fell pregnant with my 1st. I was a week late and was so nervous taking the test. Ran downstairs & woke DP up who was asleep on the couch & had to get him to confirm it was positive Grin

With my 2nd i dont remember taking the test i just remember being very smug i was as i was 3 weeks late and all prior tests were negative but i knew i was pregnant

With my 3rd i wasnt even late yet but felt so tired and unwell & had a funny taste in my nouth that i just took a test to rule out pregnancy. I was that surprised that it was positive i just left it on the side of the bath and went to bed. Id took it about 10:30pm at night and my period wasnt due for another few days, massive surprise

bluebird3 · 21/02/2020 21:44

We had been trying for over three years and had had 3 failed rounds of ivf, 1 of which was a mc and 1 was a chemical. I found out I was hypothyroid so started taking thyroxin and we needed to let it settle for a few months before trying again. I woke up one morning and as I was getting dressed I thought my boobs looked kind of veiny. I knew this was a pregnancy symptom as for 3.5 years of ttc I'd read about every symptom. I took a pregnancy test that was slightly out of date as I was sure it would come back bfn and it was to put me out of my misery. When I looked at the test there was a clear, dark line! I did a massive double take and then had to run to find an in date test, squeeze out more wee and then did 3 more tests to be sure. All bfps. My husband wasn't home - he was working night shifts. When he walked through the door an hour later I shoved the tests under his nose and blurted it out. He said, 'how can this be?' and was quite skeptical of the whole thing. That was 1 July 2018, and my daughter was born March 2019. She'll be one in a couple of weeksSmile

SallyWD · 21/02/2020 21:45

We'd been trying to conceive and I had a pregnancy test in my drawer. Wasn't planning to use it for another couple of weeks. One morning I woke up at 5am and just decided I had to do the test that minute. It was positive and I ran in to tell my DH the news. He was deep asleep and said "That's great! Couldn't you have told me when I woke up?".

BooseysMom · 21/02/2020 21:46

Hi, well mine might make you laugh Grin.. Basically we had been kind of ttc for about 2 years and i had 2 mcs before we found out. I was nearly 41 and we'd given up. Then i missed a period after 2 strange light bleeds both 2 weeks late, so i went to the doc who sent me for an urgent scan suspecting ectopic. Weirdly i can't remember doing a preg test although i must have done one.
So i was lying down waiting for the scan to show up what was happening when suddenly there was something wriggling around like crazy! The nurse said "there's your baby". I remember that so clearly. Then i looked at DH and he'd gone pale like he was gonna pass out!! The first thing he said was "is there just the one?"!!
Somehow I had got through the first 12 weeks without even being aware i was pregnant! But we were in no position to have a baby ffs! Then the moment i saw DS on that screen it was like Bang! I was instantly in love! I shall never forget it.
I wish you all the best & baby dust. Good luck xx

ShirleyPhallus · 21/02/2020 21:50

We hadn’t really been trying to conceive, just thought “let’s see what happens”. I started a new job and was exhausted from that, or so I thought. A few weeks in realised my period was late and the exhaustion was beyond a new job. Wine started tasting weird too.

DP and I agreed I’d take a test at the weekend but I took one that morning instead. The line changed right away, was the most positive a positive test could be!! I came out shaking and crying. He thought it was wonderful, I was panicked.

Am about a month off from giving birth now and it’s gone very quickly, I wish you all the best for conceiving, fingers crossed it happens soon

Piixxiiee · 21/02/2020 21:53

It was 3 months after coming of pill we were ttc but convinced we didnt did etc on right day. I got a new job- day 1 i hated it. I came home got out of car and cried that I couldn't go back! Very out of character dh was so shocked he thought there was more to it. Had a bottle of wine. Next day felt exhausted and 'off' I just knew it. Took test. Rang my mum and cried.!

User06 · 21/02/2020 21:58

I remember I’d been to dinner at my friends house the night before and we were talking about having children and I remember just knowing I was pregnant. Call it intuition, whatever. I knew. I didn’t say anything to her, but when I got home I told my husband. And said I was pregnant. He laughed at me, not surprisingly.

The next day we were going out for lunch for my nans birthday. And it got to about 11am and I decided to test. So I did, without telling him because I didn’t want the pressure. And it was a faint but definitely there bfp. I came out and showed him and he didn’t believe it because it wasn’t dark enough. I just sat on the bad with it on my knees staring at it. I was expecting to be scared it had actually happened but I never felt scared at all. It just felt so right.

(DH finally believed it when I got a digi a couple of days later)

Mammyofasuperbaby · 21/02/2020 22:00

I'd been TTC for 2 years and had a mc and mmc in that time. I had an urge to test when I woke up on my birthday. We'd stopped trying for a while and didn't think I could be pregnant but there were 2 of the darkest lines I'd ever seen. I went upstairs to my dp who was in bed cuddling our toddler and just said "I'm pregnant". The look on his face was priceless but he was so happy if not shocked. I'm 14 weeks now

ThoroughlyForumed · 21/02/2020 22:02

Ladies I'm in tears, but its happy tears along with some chuckling at some of the stories. Thank you so much for sharing you're all superwomen. I cant wait until the day I can join the ranks of motherhood

I thought keto wasn’t working for me.. felt bloody horrible, wondered if I had a stomach ulcer again. Boss told me “that ulcers got feet”.. she was obviously wrong as I’d been on the pill for years. Got a test to prove I was right, well I was definitely wrong.. he’s definitely not an ulcer.

Best friend has always come on the week after me, literally since school, she complained to me about cramps n not feeling right.. and she was 3 days late meaning i was over a week late then.. maybe being pp messed with everything.. and I’d only looked at dp once (pcos and endo so ds1 was a surprise). Bought a cheap pack of tests n went a walk up to a local market, i sneakily took one in the loo n shoved it in my pocket, expecting a negative so what did it matter. While waiting at the market when df was browsing I peaked and saw it..

Dp’s never been the first person I’ve told lol.

Tried with an ex for over a year and never fell, assumed I’d need help like the rest of my family. Apparently not.

Also, I'm ap sorry for those of you that have had a hard time conceiving. Dor some I'm nowhere near even close to what you've had to go through but I acknowledge your past pain and am humbled by your strength

We TTC for 18 months. I'd stopped bothering to test because it was easier to get my period, seeing a negative test killed me.
A couple of days before my period was due I had pains in my stomach and I had an inkling but didn't want to think about it in case I was disappointed. I woke up at 5am and poas then covered the test and got back into bed. When the time was up I looked and it was the best feeling seeing a positive, I don't think anything will feel like that again. I remember walking into the door frame then waving the test at DH and bursting into tears. Then I was terrified something would go wrong, I just couldn't be that lucky (it didn't, DS is 2 now and we're considering TTC again but I'm not sure I can face it!)

theanxiousmammy · 21/02/2020 22:06

It was my 1st wedding anniversary. I had fallen pregnant on our honeymoon but had a miscarriage at 10 weeks and we had been trying ever since I recovered from the ERPC. I was at the gym and I felt my boobs hurt with every movement so I tested when I got home and got my BFP. It took a lot of checking and reassuring to convince me and DH but our ds is almost 4 years old now ☺️ I hope hip get your BFP very soon!

ThoroughlyForumed · 21/02/2020 22:11

I love the fact all these stories are so different. It's very easy to fall into the trap of assuming its because of this or becasue of that that I didnt get my bfp but actually it helps to hear about so many different people's experiences to remind yourself that it really is out of your hands (to an extent) becasue so many people over thousands / millions of years have been having babies and it's so easy to overthink everything

First time my DH told me, "your pregnant ", I said no. Got a test peed on it was blank , went to work he called me at lunch, laughing his socks of as the test had gone positive. I was 14 days.
Second time he did it again.
He laughed and just said he just knew.

amazedmummy · 21/02/2020 22:20

We had been trying on and off for about 4 years (taking breaks for holidays) as when I took no breaks I was driving myself loopy. One evening I was out with DH at McDonald's and I said I need to buy a pregnancy test. I'd been pregnant previously and the exhaustion was incredible so I recognised it, that pregnancy ended in MC. Went over to ASDA and got a packet of FRER. Next morning got up for work and took it. I'd had so many negatives but I knew this one wouldn't be. It was very much positive. I went back to the bedroom and jumped on DH. Shoved the test in his face, he was half asleep but said "aye very good". Took a picture of the test with my phone and went off to work.
I had 2 good friends at work that I told pretty much straight away. By the time I came home from work DH was at work so I called my mum to tell her! I knew I'd need support if things went south again. I took way too many tests, one every morning until my stash ran out, to prove to myself it was real. Luckily he was a sticky bean and is now 3 months old.

HighOnStilts · 21/02/2020 22:20

I had come off Cerelle for about a month, me and OH had the attitude 'if it happens it happens' (both wanted to start a family though) I had the implant for three years prior to that and never had a period once in that time so I decided I wanted a break and to let my body get back into its natural cycle.. anyway, my period was around 5 days late and I knew something wasn't right so bought a cheapo pregnancy test during my lunch break at work to take when I got home. Initially I could only see one line and was about to throw it in the bin when something told me to take a closer look, sure as anything I did and there was a very faint second line, I sat on the edge of the bath crying (happy tears) then freaking out, then crying some more. I composed myself and jumped in my car to the local supermarket and must have spent about £30 on more pregnancy tests, quickly drove back home, drank about a gallon of water and did the rest of them, all came back positive. My OH was at work that day until around 11pm so I had what felt like the longest wait for him to get home. I announced it to him by telling him I had a suprise for him, to close his eyes and hold out his hands (he had no clue at this point, later told me he thought I had a chocolate bar for him... LOL) then I plonked the pregnancy tests in his hands. He couldn't quite get his head around it, kept repeating oh my god I'm going to be a dad?! Then we had a good cry together, it was really magical. I'm now 35+5 with a little girl, we absolutely cannot wait to meet her. Although I feel like I've been pregnant for years as I found out when I was 1-2 weeks! X

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 21/02/2020 22:23

DS wasn't planned, DH and I had been together just a few weeks. I suspected I was pregnant as I was suddenly nauseous and my breasts hurt. I took the test at work, then went to DH's house to break the news. He had cooked shepherd's pie for dinner (first time he had cooked for me) and his kids were out. I told him whilst we were eating dinner, expected him to freak out but he was delighted. From that day, shepherd's pie became our comfort meal - any bad stuff or good stuff happened, it was a shepherds pie night. I haven't touched it since DH died though.
