Will I get referred for a scan quickly?

I have always had irregular periods, but this time it got to 68 days since my last which is the longest since I started to keep track. My OH bought a test so we could make sure and it came up immediately with a very vivid positive! But that means I’m probably between 8-10 weeks. I’m going to try to get a GP appt this morning or tomorrow but am I likely to be referred to have the 12 week scan before we run out of time to have all the tests done that are usually done by 14 weeks?

In my area we don't see GP to confirm pregnancy, we just book in to see the midwife around 10 weeks who refers you for scan/ bloods etc. I didn't have any issues getting it all done in time.
With my current pregnancy I wasn't sure on dates at all so they referred me for a scan which was carried out within the week. Turns out I wasn't as far gone as I thought I could have been so just booked myself a booking appointment for 10 weeks when they sorted out my 12 week scan and blood referral.
Congratulations x

We also self refer to midwife in my area- the doctors receptionist will point you in the right direction.

My periods are also very irregular, but when ttc I tracked ovulation so knew exactly where I stood. With my most recent pregnancy although I knew I was only 8 weeks, it was 12 weeks since my last period so they sent me for the 12 week scan regardless of my assertions- was dated 8 weeks and a new 12 week scan appointment sent through. They'll almost certainly do the same for you. Congratulations!

Thanks for the responses, I’ve just self referred online. I didn’t realise you could do that as it’s my first :) I’m hoping I’m as far as I think because I haven’t had any symptoms yet apart from swollen breasts, minor dizziness and vivid dreams! Hopefully the sickness will stay at bay 😂

I had my midwife booking in appointment around 10 weeks then my dating scan at 13+6 so was only just in time for the screening tests.....but it does means less time to wait now until the 20 week one so all's good.

I didn’t find out this time until I was 13 weeks thanks to irregular periods caused by breastfeeding. I called the GP’s up straight away, a midwife phoned me within a couple of hours and I booked in two days later. My scan was a week later at 15 weeks so a bit later than usual but not really a big deal.

You will probably be fast tracked for a scan if you book in at 12 weeks+ but it’s normal to book in before 12 weeks.
