I'm nearly 37 weeks and every scan has been fine apart from this week i had a high (>95 percentile) umbilical artery reading. Has anyone had experience of this?

Yes, had this last pregnancy. First time it picked high was around 24 or 28 weeks. We had then twice a week scans( my baby was also dropping in weight). Nothing until again at 30 something weeks. For us were all together she growing some weeks and others not, plus twice the PI high, 3 reduced movements episodes. I was induced at 36+4, she was born at 37.

They will keep an eye on you and check PI, placenta, liquid. You have to keep a close eye on movements. If continues to stay high or other things come up you might end up induced.

I've had this throughout my twin pregnancy, from 22-32 weeks persistently. It's to do with the flow from your placenta to the baby through the umbilical cord. As R2D2abc says above, it can signal growth problems so they will start keeping a close eye on you. Strangely ours never did develop into a growth problem and suddenly for the last 3 weeks the PI has actually been normal.

The main thing is that the end diastolic flow (EDF) remains forward (often documented "present" or "positive" in your notes). was told that if it became "absent" then I would be admitted for very close monitoring and if it goes into "reverse" then baby may need to be delivered. Ours always remained positive which was good.

As above, do keep monitoring the movements - I've often been in for a reassuring CTG if in any doubt at all.

Good luck :)

Thank you both very much.

Also if it's just a one off so far, it could well be due to an off reading or the baby wriggling too much. Try not to worry, there's not long for you to go now - even if you deliver tomorrow I am sure baby will be fine :)

Mine are booked in for section next week at 36 weeks Grin

Thank you so much. And I hope it all goes well for you and your little twinnies.

Thank you, all the best to you too!

I'm not sure when you're next being scanned, but try and push for another next week at some point just to make sure the EDF is still forward. That's what my (extremely thorough) consultant has been doing with me. And you may well find that the reading has come back down again :)
