Hi I'm 35+3 weeks pregnant and I have just got out of bed to go to the toilet for a pee, when i stood up, a liquid started to just come out and I couldn't stop and my PJ bottoms were left very wet. I went to the toilet anyway and did a pee and returned to bed but I am really worried as that's never happened before and I'm embarrassed to ring my midwife incase I have basically just peed myself lol. Thanks

Your waters have broken, ring!

InDubiousBattle · 04/02/2020 07:49

That's your waters, you need to call labour ward.

There hasnt been much leak of fluid since should I still ring ?

Yes still ring, mine went like that and didn't start leaking again until an hour or so later! I was 36 weeks, I had my DS 3.5 hours later!

Definitely ring! I had fluid leaking for a good week with my first and thought it was just part of pregnancy. I was 32 weeks. I finally did call to get checked out and yes, it was my hind waters leaking. You definitely need to go.

InDubiousBattle · 04/02/2020 08:12

Yes, I had a leak of waters, told dp, did the exact same dither you're doing now, went to ring the ward and had a Hollywood style gush of waters whilst on the phone. Had to replace a rug!

I was suggested to put on a sanitary towel and lay down for a half hour and if it was wet after to ring maternity and if not it has just been a accident I've had

Who suggested this to you, the midwife? Otherwise, please call labour ward. They'll likely want you in straight away for premature rupture of membranes. It's happened to me twice.

R2D2abc · 04/02/2020 11:21

@OP ask to be seen. They can do a swab which gives immediate result if it was your waters. While you go there, put a pad anyways to collect whatever leaks also. I wouldn't take a chance. It could be wee, it could be your waters. Better to get checked thou.

Bol87 · 04/02/2020 15:41

Def get checked, mine went really slowly! Similarly to yours at the start, then I just kept feeling a bit damp.. so I popped a pad in and took it to the hospital. It was waters & I need to be induced 24 hours later!

They should properly check you, not fob you off. If it was an accident, then so be it but better to be safe always!
