Hey Beautiful People!!

I'm 40!
Due : 11th October
Losses: 2 mmc's

Started trying over year ago in December 2018, got positive test Feb, lost baby May 9th, got pregnant in August lost baby in October!

Now pregnant again about 4 weeks absolutely petrified. How'd you deal with it? I can't get comfort from tests getting darker as mine did continue even though unknown to me my baby had died, so that's out window. Early scan, first one fine, second one not fine 🤷‍♀️

  • do you go for early scans?
  • do you regularly test?
  • what keeps you sane???

Congratulations!
No advice same kinda boat,
29,
2 dc already
1 mmc
1 chemical
4 weeks pregnant again and going crazy googling symptoms and worrying non stop!

So I'm no help but kinda know how your feeling with the anxiety!

LilMrsS · 30/01/2020 20:27

Hey,
I'm currently 6wks after months of trying after MMC and me and DH both petrified!
We've been considering private scans at approx 10wks then again at 14wks but not cheap.
Making no solid plans yet though. Only comfort i got was getting a blood test done from doc this week, knowing I'm taking folic acid aswell as eating better and trying to walk more. I don't drink or smoke and just trying to focus on small things like how many steps I do, eating.. seems to keep me from worrying to much.
It's weird the different outlook on being pregnant has once you've been through a loss I can't seem to think past the following week??

abbysalias · 30/01/2020 20:33

Hi Ladies, I'm sorry for your loses ThanksThanks
In a similar boat here...
I'm 32
Due 13th Oct
Loses - 1 MC @ 9-10w

This is only my second pregnancy. I lost the first baby 4 weeks ago despite a normal scan at 7w and 8w. I'm delighted to be pregnant again and grateful to conceive quickly but I am petrified.

Things I'm going to do differently this time - try to keep busy, not download a pregnancy app, not keep checking mc stats calculators and not keep testing. As none of that made a difference last time and I think it will just freak me out more. But I will go for an early scan with EPU at 7 weeks (even though it won't reassure me). I'll probably then do NIPT at 10 weeks. There after (if I get that far) I'll have 2 weekly appointments with the consultant due to other risk factors.

This time I think I'll only tell dh. I told family on Xmas day last time and it was heart breaking to tell them about the mc a week later.

Will you both be keeping the news quiet?

abbysalias · 30/01/2020 20:36

@LilMrsS I think that's good advice about focusing on a healthy diet. I think I'll try that as I feel I need something to focus on (aka obsess over!)
And yes, you totally become week by week or in my case day by day! Makes time go sooooo slowly!

Galwaygirl85 · 30/01/2020 20:42

Big congrats ladies
I know the feeling
2 miscarry then got pregnant with my now 3 year old I honestly didn't enjoy the pregnancy I was scared stiff going to the toilet!! Incase I saw blood.
Refused to use the loo I miscarries in.
I got Early preg scans and my friend had told me about crinone progesterone to aid you till 14 weeks then you produce your own and it worked used the gel every night. Cried every scan etc it doesn't leave you but we went on and had another baby and was a girl she's 18 months and used them again. I just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant again Planned but all them nerve are back and over thinking and googling listen
If it works and helps us so what, last 2 times I litterly was a couch potatoe wouldn't do anything swimming walking gym
Etc this time I'm trying to keep bit up cause if I'm going to miscarry there is notting I can do. Fingers crossed for us x

@LilMrsS

Congratulations, yeah actually I didn't think about bloods doctors here have no time or money to offer or say yes to hcg blood testing! But that would show increase, wait actually I suppose if my body continued with hormones to give dark tests then I suppose it would on bloods. Ho hum let's just keep busy!!

Hey Abby,

In my job I have to say straight away as I work with kids with challenging behaviour so get thumped, kicked, bitten and scratched regularly! My team are not good at keeping secrets but they had to know to protect me 🤷‍♀️. So news spread like wildfire and people I didn't even know were sending congratulations! Fucking cheek! Then I lost baby around the 10-12 weeks and had to walk back into a school with 80+ staff and being congratulated by people who obviously hadn't heard! I couldn't believe one person had told everyone and even bus drivers that collect the kids, it was horrible and took everything I had to keep going back and get through it.

The second time I had to state very strongly that I didn't want it out of class room and it spread slightly 🙄 but not like the first time. So that was easier. I told my friends and close family, as either way I needed their support either way and it was good to have it.

So my advice is tell who you trust, tell who's good for you, tell who will be there for you throughout pregnancy and if it does go wrong xx

Sending love! ❤️

Galwaygirl85 · 30/01/2020 22:23

It's crinone progesterone 8% I had done research as my friend got prescribed it in Switzerland and it worked, I'm not saying it is a defo but fingers crossed. @Jojowash you will fly it be nice to yourself I just get wrapped up in myself till I'm 16/17 weeks I don't tell anyone it's just my way of coping and then I only have to be positive for myself baby abs husband

TunnocksTcake · 31/01/2020 12:03

Hello, according to LMP I am due end of September but I know my cycles are longer so I'm expecting around 3rd October.
I'm 29, had one MMC in Julywhere they discovered baby hadnt grown past 6 weeks at the 12 week scan. Took ages to conceive again, finally fell pg in December then MC at 5weeks 1 day on Christmas day.
Somehow fell pg again immediately and am now 5w 2 days, happy to have past the date of the previous one.
I think I will go for an early scan because both of mine stopped growing early and couldn't face waiting til 12 weeks to be told it stopped growing earlier again that was such a mind fuck. Not sure when to book one in for though, don't want to go too early and freak myself out, especially with slightly longer cycles.
I am just taking solace in all the symptoms I am getting and the fact that this time it feels different... Either way we will have a baby or be eligible for NHS testing.
fingers crossed for sticky babies for us all

Galwaygirl85 · 31/01/2020 12:37

@TunnocksTcake you can get your Dr to refer you to the hospital it's free and they monitor you more after 2 miscarry I had 2 on 3rd preg now have a boy and a girl so fingers crossed for both of us, it is a worrying time x

TunnocksTcake · 31/01/2020 14:01

@Galwaygirl85 they don't do that where I live, its so rubbish there is a massive difference depending where you are. When I went in to tell them about the 2nd mc she just said they dont do anything different until you've had 3 but to go to the EPU if I have any pain or bleeding - we can at least self refer here so that's a blessing. I'm hoping nothing will go wrong though obviously and I will pay for a private one (or 2!)

Galwaygirl85 · 31/01/2020 14:22

Aw I'm sorry to hear that it's a pity I'm lucky we get early scans but your Dr can refer you here so they will see you, I got my scan Date now today for this pregnancy it's 19 days away and il be nervous until I have it

FlapJackered · 31/01/2020 15:13

Hi ladies,
Can I join please?
I am 31 and just got my bfp today after a mc this time last year at 8 weeks.
I am absolutely terrified and can't imagine actually getting to the end of a pregnancy. Still so excited and hopeful!

Galwaygirl85 · 31/01/2020 17:11

@FlapJackered think positive take one day at a time don't count months I used go day by day then little goals like my scan or every Friday cause that was a new week

Jojowash · 31/01/2020 17:34

@TunnocksTcake

Aww that's so sad. On Christmas Day too, nature is so cruel and takes no prisoners!!

I would suggest having scan at about 8 weeks ask your doctor or mw to refer you to EPU for reassurance scan. Usually if you have good sized baby and healthy heartbeat at this time things are more likely to be ok, most are lost as they connect more to our blood streams 6/7 weeks so if sticky blood like me is a problem that's where they can't progress due to clotting and also they really start to develop and that's where chromosomal problems will show and failure to grow.

It's so so hard but I'm going to wait until 8 weeks and hope as I got to about 13/ 14 weeks and had the shock of my life at the first scan, my body was still acting pregnant too so didn't have any worries.

The second I didn't feel pregnant at all apart from weeing lots had scan at 6 weeks baby had heartbeat but measured 5 weeks, then 7 week scan had stopped measuring 6+1 weeks

So definitely earlier scan but not to early. I think I'll be beside myself before scan

Congratulations! ❤️❤️

@FlapJackered
Congrats how far along are you?

FlapJackered · 31/01/2020 18:09

@Galwaygirl85 that is a really good way to look at it. I have been repeating the mantra I heard on a podcast today which is 'today I am pregnant' which is helping. Just focus on the day-by-day as you say.

Thanks @Jojowash I am sorry you have had such a hard time of it. It is heartbreaking isn't it. I read a statistic that if you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks your chance of miscarrying is only 2%. Which is really reassuring.

Thanks @LilMrsS I am only 4 weeks. So very early on.

LilMrsS · 31/01/2020 19:10

Feels forever in the early days doesn't it!

TunnocksTcake · 31/01/2020 21:05

@jojowash thank you lovely, 8 weeks sounds like the best plan. Hubby is more nervous than me and wanted to do one at 7 weeks and one at ten but Im worries 7 is too early.
I was the same with my MMC in July, I never even considered anything would be wrong, I felt SO pregnant! Bizarre what the body can do.
