Signed off due to low placenta

Hi, I've just been signed off suddenly at 32 weeks due to placenta not moving up as hoped.

I was expecting to go in to work for several more weeks and some am all flustered about handing over and whatnot, never mind what I should and shouldn't do while I'm signed off and high risk!

So far I have absolutely no sex, no heavy lifting and no antenatal yoga on the list. Consultant said yes to gentle walking and swimming.

Anyone been in a similar boat? It's going to be weird just not going to work suddenly (high school teacher with exam classes...)

I’m almost 24 weeks and I have a low placenta too. Due to be re scanned at 32w. I’ve also been signed off with SPD and it’s killing me. Not due til late May and I cannot cope now!! I also work in a busy nursery setting on the 2nd & 3rd floor. This is my second pregnancy too :-(

Is there any particular reason you have been signed off work? I had a low placenta which didn't move and ended up in a c section. I worked until 36 weeks as planned and there was no talk of me being signed off. I do work in an office though so that may be the difference!

I was signed off as well but at 28 weeks as it's a really physical job and also have pgp third pregnancy for me you have my sympathy I was dreading telling my boss but it's more important for the pregnancy to be ok .

I’m finding everything so difficult atm walking shopping etc! Wish the pains would ease x

I was signed off at 32 weeks for other reasons, weak cervix and baby fully engaged, had to just leave work to do the handover and I was made to rest until I reached 36 weeks minimum. My work were great about it thankfully.

1 of my managers are being awful with me but my other manager is my best friend and godmother to this baby! Xx

Thanks. I've had a few hours to digest so I'm starting to think it could be a gift, really. Just need to get all the handover done mentally (was sending emails at 3am cos my head wouldn't stop!)

@LividLaugh I am worrying about hand over and its not until end of April!

Make the most of this time that you have been expectantly given! Don't know if you have older children or not, but use the time they are at school to go swimming and for a walk etc.. make sure your bag is packed, internet shopping maybe ? Arrange asda delivery for after due date? Good Luck xx
