Hi

I'm 9+2 today, had a 7 week scan and all was well with a heartbeat. All of yesterday I had cramps that felt like diahhorea pains but they weren't bad, it then turned in to a stitch like pain. It's still there this morning. At about 9pm lastnight I had brown blood and some brown mucus (not a lot, just similar to ewcm). This morning there was more brown blood and i think a tiny bit of dark red. Its very much spotting. Can anyone provide some reassurance? I have a scan today at 3pm I am absolutely beside myself!!!!

Thanks

Ashleigh

Try not to stress, I remember being told by the midwife that brown blood was fine. Fingers crossed for you.

Lou2120 · 28/01/2020 07:07

My miscarriage was not like that it was bright red blood non stop until baby passed and lots and lots of it. Fingers crossed you have a good outcome today. Let us know how you get on.

Wudgy · 28/01/2020 07:16

Hi there I had ssome spotting similar to yours in my last pregnancy and all was fine. This weekend I had terrible pains like you mentioned - no blood but Gp but it down to stomach bug going around, have you have any vomiting? Good luck for your scan xxxx thinking positively for you xx

cloclo92 · 28/01/2020 07:52

I had some brown spotting at 7 + 5 and a bleed at 11 weeks with clots. & so far baby is fine 🤞🏻❤️

When I had my miscarriages I had extreme period pains and very heavy bleed pretty much straight away. Try remain calm which I no is hard :-(
Fingers crossed for you x

kirinm · 28/01/2020 08:58

I bled almost consistently heavily for the first 18 weeks including being admitted into hospital but I have a 17mo daughter so sometimes it just happens for no reason. I also had cramping when I bled.

I hope you have the same outcome. Good luck for the scan this afternoon.

Ttcbn1 · 28/01/2020 10:02

Hi, it doesn't sound like it to me. I had a miscarriage yesterday and the pain has been excruciating and I've passed so much bright red blood as well as clots. It sounds like yours is normal pregnancy spotting. Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼 xxx

MrFlibblesEyes · 28/01/2020 10:28

Is it around when your period would have been due? I had what you describe at 8 weeks on the day my period would have been due and have heard similar happen to a few other people? Had a scan and the baby was absolutely fine, hope all works out for you x

Urkiddingright · 28/01/2020 10:30

I had brown spotting with my missed miscarriage so brown isn’t always harmless. I’m not saying that to scare you and I hope all is ok but cramping and bleeding (whatever the colour) should be checked out, phone your midwife or GP.

ashleigh3119 · 28/01/2020 12:04

Thanks everyone. Only three hours left until I find out I'm SO nervous. I'm not bleeding anymore which is a good sign, been to the toilet a few times today and nothing there. I know they say bleeding and cramping is normal but its really scared me that they both randomly happened on the same day. It was exactly like how youd expect a period to happen, cramping then going to the toilet and seeing blood. I did have sex that morning tho so not sure if that's had anything to do with it but I've done it quite a few times and nothing like this happened. Very nervous!!!

When I had my missed miscarriage (11+ 5) it was lots of bright red blood, no pain till after the bleeding started. Fingers crossed all's good and healthy still! Do you have anyone waiting with you for support?

Marshy86 · 28/01/2020 12:09

Hi OP, I had bleeding from 6.5 weeks till 13 weeks due to bleed in womb - was told not to worry and it's more common than I would think. Hospital told me as long as there is no clots that I don't need to go back, it's hard not to worry as bleeding during pregnancy goes against your natural instincts. Sending you positive thoughts and a virtual hug xx

kirinm · 28/01/2020 12:53

Bleeding in pregnancy isn't normal - I think people often misunderstand this point. But it is common. There is a difference.

Fingers crossed tightly for you OP.

Trixie121 · 28/01/2020 13:17

I Had a missed miscarriage last year and it started with brown bleeding that got gradually heavier but there was no pain or red blood until the actual passing of everything. I am currently 11 weeks and have had 2 episodes of brown bleeding during this pregnancy, it has been totally terrifying but so far everything is OK. I have my fingers crossed for you. X

maria2bela · 28/01/2020 13:21

Sounds like it could be quite normal spotting. During early stages a lot is happening in your womb and brown blood means old blood, meaning that I doubt your cramps would result in brown blood if it was miscarriage related. It's good your having a scan today to get some answers, really hope it's good news for you x

ashleigh3119 · 28/01/2020 13:21

@trixie121 how long did it take for the bleeding to get heavier?

I really just have an awful feeling I've had cramps all day, I just want to know now Sad thanks for all your messages. Will this scan definitely pick up if ive had a miscarriage? Or could the bleeding be a sign that a miscarriage might happen in the future? xx

My miscarriage started off with brown blood that then turned red however it didn’t stop like yours from the moment I started to bleed I continued to bleed.

I’m now 17 weeks and I had a small brown bleed last week and I was devastated and thought the worst but there was a healthy bouncing baby in there. Good luck with your scan x

pigoons · 28/01/2020 13:39

My miscarriage started like yours but the bleeding got heavier and heavier (more period like)with cramping and backache. It was very early on though - about 6 weeks

pigoons · 28/01/2020 13:40

Just noticed you had sex - I had bleeding post sex during my (successful) pregnancy - I was panic stricken because of previous miscarriage but midwife assured me it is relatively common

kirinm · 28/01/2020 13:47

Be prepared for an internal scan. They may or may not be able to see where the blood has come from and whether there is anymore. Where it comes from can make a difference to the outcome. But, even though I lost over two pints of blood, they still couldn't work out where it was coming from and it did not eventually stop.

Bluntly, if there is no heartbeat or baby is not measuring in line with your dates, you'll know if you're miscarrying.

Trixie121 · 28/01/2020 13:53

@ashleigh3119 and it took 7 days from when I first noticed the first tiny amount of brown to heavy bleeding, but I had no pain during that time only when the actual miscarage happened. I know it's terrifying but try to remain positive, bleeding doesn't necessarily mean bad news x

kirinm · 28/01/2020 15:59

Hope you're okay OP.

ashleigh3119 · 28/01/2020 16:00

Baby was all fine, cant believe it! Wriggling away like nothings a matter, totally oblivious to all the stress its caused Grin thanks everyone xx
