Not sure if waters have broken?

So I'm 40+4 and woke up at 6.30am to a trickle of fluid coming out and I'm really not sure if it is wee or waters breaking! I thought it was only a trickle but when I checked my underwear it was about half a cups worth... I put a pad on and lay down for half an hour and when I stood up, a little bit more came out, then the same thing happened again. I'm not having any pains or contractions though so I'm not sure if I should go to the hospital or not. Did anyone else' waters break like this? I don't want to go to the hospital for them then to say it was just urineBlush...sorry for TMI lolGrin

Best get checked. You are open to infection after 24 hours. They sent me home to labour naturally and ds was admitted at 3 months with an undiscovered infection.

Mine went like that, just a bit every now and again. Hospital told me to go in and get checked and then sent me home. Labour stared more than 24 hours after waters went. DS was put on antibiotics for a few days in case of infection.

Mine was like that - in fact they weren’t sure that they had gone at all. I went into labour a few hours later

Sounds like your waters. Keep the pad, triage will test it.

Jamsponge71 · 20/01/2020 09:51

Sounds gross but you’d be able to know by smell! 😂 That’s what I had to do.

Mine went like that, small gushes, my contractions started within the hour though, I had called the hospital as it was just after midnight and they said if no contractions by the morning to pop along and get checked out, so worth giving yours a call

Cjo99 · 20/01/2020 11:43

@jamsponge71 I did, there wasn't much of a smell to it!

Thanks everyone, it's been 5 hours since the first bit and I haven't had any contractions or anything so going to phone hospital soon and they'll probably ask me to come in:)

Probably waters then, I’d say.
