Im only 24 weeks pg but ive just got such an urge to clean everything.
Im even wanting to wash the things that i have for the baby even though i know its a waste oftime and that they'll need doing again before he's born.

Right well ive hoovered right through the house, completly scrubbed the bathroom and downstairs loo,got 2 black bags of just crap, bleached kitchen from top to bottom and even sorted out the toy cupboard, done 2 loads of washing and now just waiting for dp to get in so we can lay the turf

One thing I do really get the urge to do is make lists!

What exactly I need, where I'm going to get it, when I'm going to get it, if I can get someone else to get it for me (I'm so tight lol!) if I can get it any cheaper.

I suppose one of the problems is that I'm really disorganised and I feel if I don't write a list for important stuff (like having babies) then it will all fall down around my ears and I will end up giving birth and yet have completely forgotten to get essential nik-nak #47.

And if anyone wants to take out their nesting/cleaning urges out on my house, just give me a yell and I'll willingly oblige!

Fifisworld, well done! How on earth do you achieve so much with DS around?

fifisworld · 29/08/2007 21:26

DS is a really good baby, he had a sleep for almost 2 hous today so just got cracking but he'll happily sit and play in his cot with his toys while i get things done.
I also got my turf done with dp so i rewarded myself with a chinese

I'm currently 32 weeks and the house is a TIP. Not much energy for nesting with DS (2.1y) to run around after. Or perhaps the truth is I woud rather be outdoors while the sun is shining instead of cleaning cement-hard porridge off the floor. Actually I've done zero preparation for this baby, haven't even got a cot yet. Maybe I'm in denial (that's the river in Egypt...)

I do remember last time cleaning windows at 41 weeks, but on the other hand the window in our bedroom (where DS slept too) had an old blanket tacked over it instead of a curtain for about the first year

I'm 23 weeks and so far my nesting instinct has been confined to the garden ... which is probably to do with the fact that it's almost spring here in Australia, my trees and shrubs are in bud and, having just reached the quickening, so am I! I'm weeding and pruning every morning before I go to work so that my garden and I will bloom together and my daughter will have a lovely little landscape to come home to when she's born around New Year.
As for housework, don't even talk about it; I hate all that boring unpoetical drudgery.

phdlife · 31/08/2007 09:27

about 2 days before the birth! lulumama was chasing me out of the teashop saying "go pack your bag woman!!"

Biglips · 31/08/2007 09:37

i start nesting from 7 months!!...be careful as i ended up getting sicacita cos of mad cleaning (cant remember how to spell it!!)

PregnantGrrrl · 31/08/2007 10:07

i did for most of my 1st pregnancy, but we had just moved and had to do the house up. DH kept finding me up ladders, digging, painting etc.

not so bad this time- it's cosmetic stuff now, like getting their room all nice and weeding the garden. going to start cooking meals for the freezer in a couple of weeks, which i'm strangely looking forward to.

ghosty · 31/08/2007 10:12

I still haven't started nesting.
My children are 7 and 3 years old

JARM · 31/08/2007 10:13

I plan on starting when we move (hopefully next week!) Im 28weeks on monday lol

BrownSuga · 31/08/2007 10:16

i didn't and with babe now 3mths old, still hasn't kicked in!

manuka · 31/08/2007 14:01

I went mental - well more mental than normal- I decorated my house from top to bottom new kitchen new bathroom, totally scrubbed my partners flat even the walls in every room, sold them and bought a new house! All in the last 2 months when I was enormous. I then wondered why my back was and still is totally fucked and suffered bad pnd!!!

Holly29 · 31/08/2007 14:59

No nesting for me yet (36+1) but there's time... I got the supermarket to deliver me some Napisan the other day when delivering my weekly shop, does that count?

1ontheway · 31/08/2007 21:45

6 weeks to go tomorrow.....had a panic on this week that haven't anything ready for the new baby so decided today to wash all the baby stuff, bought a new crib mattress, storage baskets, muslins etc. Bought a feeding bottle for my 18 month old's boy baby doll so he has been practising feeding today - v. sweet. Keep noticing dirty doors, cobwebs etc. how much the oven needs cleaning, so jobs for the weekend (hmm)Finding I am laying awake at night worrying I haven't sorted a double buggy as yet, not good at 2.15am. Don't know why such a stupid thing is keeping me awake at nights as it's so easy to sort out and at least I should be able to get some sleep then.....must be the hormones.
