Local anaesthetic in 1st trimester

Had an early scan yesterday which showed all fine, 7+3/40. Today had a mole removed and the doctor used local anaesthetic. He knew I was pregnant and was still happy to do the procedure. I've now done some googling and although the general information says local anaesthetic is safe in pregnancy there is the odd thing about adrenaline in the anaesthetic potentially causing problems but there is no evidence. Has anyone had local anaesthetic in the 1st trimester and been fine. Freaking out and wondering if to book another private scan.

I had it in 2nd trimester while having a wisdom tooth removed and again when i had a filling. Everything fine both times, if there was even a slight risk they wouldn't be happy to do it x

The doctor was happy to do it, ignore the random articles on the internet and stop worrying yourself- dr google is especially horrific when looking up anything pregnancy related and often completely lacking evidence.

Your 12 week scan will be here before you know it 🙂

Thanks both. I am a worrier.

It’s fine. They probably didn’t even use the one with adrenaline anyway.

If you look anything up that's safe in pregnancy there will always be something on Google to tell you it isn't... As pp have said doctors wouldn't use it if it wasn't safe
