Aspirin during pregnancy

Hi am looking for some advice, I am 23+3 weeks pregnant and was recently at a routine midwife appointment when she told me I need to be on 75mg of aspirin a day due to my first born weighing 6lb 6oz.
I thought that was a perfectly normal weight, apparently I should have been on them from 12 weeks so 11 weeks down the line and I am just being told! Will they still work? I suffer from generalised anxiety disorder and panic attack disorder! This is sending my anxiety into overdrive! Anyone have any experience using aspirin during pregnancy?? Will they still work even though am starting them so late? Thanks for any advice

@JodieMia16 best advice I can give you is call your doctor for a second opinion on the matter. I've been told to take aspirin and honestly 75mg is so low dose that you should not worry at all if you haven't been taking it. It's just a very mild blood thinner.

Due to hyperemesis that caused my oesophagus to bleed, I didn't start taking aspirin until around 27 weeks pregnant. I was on 75mg as well. An extremely low dose. Agree with the above comment, call your doctor for reassurance.

Definitely get a second opinion please. My first and second we're both 6lb 3oz and I have never been told to take aspirin.

I'm on 150mg as I am diabetic. Im sure 75mg is a very low dose but I think is routinely given to women who are diabetic, even slightly overweight or have border line high blood pressure. But if you have anxiety definitely give your GP a call as the second opinion will put your mind at ease.

Thanks everyone, I am more concerned that because am now 23 weeks it won't work the same as it would have if I started at 12 weeks. I will speak to my gp, I have also to attend extra growth scans! Thank you all for your replies x

@JodieMia16 discuss with your doctor, I think thou you can still benefit from it to make blood flow to placenta better. As far as I know it's less effective after 20 weeks for preeclampsia but that's still better than none.

I'm taking 150 mg due to past severe preeclampsia.

Anyways they signed on my notes my first born being 7lb 5oz at 40 weeks as low birth weight and will have a series of growth scans in third trimester. Also my third was 6lb 7oz. That for me it's ridiculous because both me and my husband weighed similar at our births and all my other babies weighed similar. Their charts sometimes puzzles me. But, as I said I already have to take aspirin due to other condition.
